Buenos Aires, Argentina – Late last month, Argentinian President Javier Milei uploaded a characteristically odd photo on social media. It showed him posing with his cabinet behind a golden chainsaw – a callback to the campaign prop Milei wielded at rallies to punctuate his support for spending cuts. An accompanying caption read: “The best government in history.”

That bravado may still prove premature but, for now, Milei’s supporters say he has delivered on at least some of his promises – even if many Argentinians are suffering the consequences.

In his first year of his presidency, Milei’s commitment to a draconian fiscal adjustment has begun to change a country that was prone to economic stagnation and runaway inflation, driven by years of wild money-printing that paid for government deficits.

A self-described anarcho-capitalist, Milei revved-up his chainsaw immediately upon taking office, quickly moving to slash spending, eliminate government ministries and fire hundreds of bureaucrats.

In tandem, pensions and public salaries were held down, cutting their real value, and public infrastructure projects were scrapped.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Seyyed Ali Khamenei, stated on Wednesday that the events in Syria were orchestrated in American and Israeli command centers.

During a speech in Tehran, Seyyed Khamenei emphasized that Iran has "evidence that leaves no room for doubt" to support this assertion.

He highlighted the role of a "neighboring country," which, according to him, "played an overt role in the events in Syria and continues to do so, as is evident to all," adding that "The primary force behind the conspiracy, the planning, and the command centers were in America and the Zionist entity."

Addressing the events unfolding in Syria in the past few days, Seyyed Khamenei said "It is certain that these perpetrators, with their own objectives that may vary from one another, seek to occupy land in northern or southern Syria.

A damning Palestinian report published today confirms that Gaza’s population has plummeted by 6 percent by the end of 2024, a direct consequence of Israel’s ongoing brutal assault on the Strip.

According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), the war has left 45,541 Palestinians dead, some 11,000 are missing and believed to be under the rubble and at least 100,000 have been forced to flee Gaza as Israel’s campaign of destruction continues to devastate the enclave.

BBC editor Raffi Berg has almost complete control of the British broadcaster’s online coverage of Israel’s war on Gaza and is ensuring that all events are reported with a pro-Israel bias, according to a new report published on 28 December by Drop Site News.

“This guy’s entire job is to water down everything that’s too critical of Israel,” one former BBC journalist said.
