!nostupidquestions is a community dedicated to being helpful and answering each others' questions on various topics.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.

Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

I don't get why is possible to regrow a lot of stuff (skin, muscles, broken bones etc.), but only to a certain extend. At one moment you are suddenly not able to rebuild things.

Why is that and what determines what we can regrow?

No stupid question... it seems Trump is ready to invade (military) Panama and Greenland (red white blueland), so even if with Canada he always talk about economic war and annexing Canada blablabla...

What would happen if USA invades Canada? What would be the reaction of the Canada King (Charles III is the king of Canada)? The Commonwealth? NATO?

Let's take the Rhine Which goes from Switzerland to Netherlands. When and how did people start agreeing on giving-it the same name ? What about the alps going from southern France to Austria ? When did people agreed that it was the same mountain range ? And obviously what about the Gulf of Mexico ?

I just browsed all which I rarely do, but the whole scaled feed was filled with nsfw posts from lemmit.online. What's up with this instance? It seems they repost everything from reddit to their own instance? It really feels like those instances should be defederated but I at least blocked it myself.

Is it still possible to interact with the communities (post, vote, etc.)? If yes, is it still possible to delete them if the ownership of the community (aka the top mod) belongs to an user from another instance?

I'll go

  1. I'm not alone.
  2. Trump:

Declares martial law

Or

Has defied court orders

Or

Has committed violence against government officials

Or

Dissolved all other branches of government

There is probably more but these are ones that come to mind.

Edit:

Deleted my responses. I asked for honest opinions. I'm not here to call balls and strikes.

I'm on the market for pantyhose but everything I've found is high rise and covers your belly completely, usually higher than your navel.

I cannot phantom how that can be comfortable to wear, doesn't it hurt? But if high rise pantyhose are the standard it means people actually want them.

When I was deciding what sport leggings to buy I tried high rise leggings on once and decided against: it's simply too much fabric, it's not comfortable and I only need a mid rise legging to cover up to my waist, not all the way over my navel. Same should apply to pantyhose.

After visiting several stores I found a French brand (DIM) that sells one model of low rise pantyhose. However, I've not found a single online review of this product and I want to see what others think before I buy.

If you wear (high rise) pantyhose, is it comfortable? Does it hurt?

Do you know what brands offer low rise pantyhose?

Can you think of any reason why buying low rise pantyhose would be a bad idea?

I began to consider this as my mouth filled with the flavor of pineapple as I remembered the flavor of a pineapple.

Do other senses suffer from the same issue?

i love her so much, she snores a little bit. 😭 it sounds like a heavy breathing sound but also snoring kinda.

she looks so peaceful and she puts her arm around me as she sleeps. i swear she’s literally sleeping beauty.

(no clue why she’d put my arm around my goofy ass)

Is there a feature on lemmy where I can automatically filter posts that contain certain keywords, similar to that on Mastodon? On Mastodon I have set a muted words filter that will catch and hide all Mastodon news and politics posts that contain Trump or Elon related keywords.

Unlike reddit, where it's large size allows me to follow specific communities, I generally use the home page on lemmy to browse new content.

I abandoned reddit back in June 2023 and have been lurking on lemmy since that time, but recently I created an account so I could mute and filter out all the Trump and Elon content clogging the feeds. I have blocked the vast majority of all communities that have to do with news, world news, or politics, but there are still posts to do with Trump and Elon still appearing in the home page from time to time. I would love for a way to hide the remaining posts from appearing in the feed on lemmy.

My 14-year-old sister Lena has made a friend who is constantly picking on Lena for the slightest things, calling her weird, screaming at her in social situations and in athletics, saying she is useless, etc. [my sister has mobility issues and asthma as well]

Fortunately, Lena told me that she and another friend of hers stopped hanging out with the friend but the teachers still want her paired up with this girl? (No one else will hang out with Lena’s friend because her friend group is preppy and very cliquey)

The friend is also doing the classic “You can’t be friends with those girls and leave me, they don’t like you/understand you like I do. I’m the only one who will accept you.”

Yeah, I don’t really know how to help as I don’t go to her school and I’m obviously several years older than her

It seems that the LGBT ones we got are for news and I don’t want to post random stuff about for example, my boyfriend, on a news community.

I don’t mean morally wrong, I know that sexuality is a spectrum, that everyone is different, and I shouldn’t let anyone tell me how to describe myself, I mean wrong terminology.

Like how a man who’s attracted to other men wouldn’t call himself straight for example.

I’m certainly not straight, even if there’s one woman I’ve ever liked and the rest were men, I still liked a girl.

I would definitely date regardless of gender but only one women has really been attractive to me. Although I’d date and love regardless, other genders don’t really give me the spark men do.

If I dated a man who transitioned to nonbinary or transfem, I would still love them regardless and wouldn’t lose my interest in him.

I consider myself attracted to women maybe ~5% of the time, 95% other genders (most of the 95% is male but IDK the exact percentage on that part)

Would omni/bi be a better description?

Are dictionaries included in software (e.g. keyboard typing/autocorrect) known to include names of mythological figures, if so how many and from what pantheons?

Just found out soap is alkaline. If you run out of antacids and your acid reflux is really bad, can you eat soap to settle your tummy? This post inspired by eating chalk for acid reflux.

Hey there, I'm from Germany and have mental health issues such as depression and was wondering how prevalent this topic is in America.

Here in Germany this topic has become extremely normal and pretty much everyone seems to openly talk about it even with strangers sometimes. We have a lot of therapists but it's often hard to get an appointment since medical care in Germany is free and they have overwhelming numbers of people and the therapists don't have enough availability to accommodate everyone. The therapists I had so far were pretty good since they really seemed to care about me and often did overtime and such to talk.

I wonder if it's similar in America that a lot of people go to therapy and openly talk about mental health. What is the situation in America like? Do you have many therapists (especially in rural areas) and how easy is it to get in/finance? Or would you say this topic is generally more frowned upon in America in comparison?
