Looking for something like a dying light where you can upgrade your character and get new skills. I've tried project zomboid game is to confusing for me. I have also tried 7 days to die I'll end up playing for about a week then quitting for another month or two before finally coming back. Just wanna play like a horde style game where I can make a build or level up in general

Its been 4 years since a new supposed red faction game under Thq Nordic was leaked via Nvidia Ansel. In 2020 however the rights of red faction were sold off to Deep Silver. At this point I am curious as to whether or not we will see any announcement going forward.

Like there are some people who watch TV on their spare time. I'm genuinely puzzled by how something that brings me peace affects people's perception of me. What is winning then? What should I do with my free time that shows that I do care about my life?

I own games on so many different services now. Epic, gog, Steam, Amazon prime gaming. There's so many and I'm noticing now that I might have some crossover between the different stores. I use the site www.isthereanydeal.com to monitor my Steam wish list and it works great. I'm wondering if there is an application or website out there that allows you to log in to the different stores and get a list of all of the games that you own in that particular store and then keeps track of it. So then I would be able to see I have 20 games total: 3 from Amazon, 2 from GOG, 5 from Epic, 10 from Steam...etc.

Does anyone know about something that does this or is using a spreadsheet like a caveman really the best and only way to currently do this?

For last few years i was on console. Last time i had PC was..well when i was much younger😁

Few months ago i finally bought new beefy PC and man i totally forgot how goos PC gaming feels like and is.

On console i always had that feeling about how limited i am, not just about mouse&keyboard but games in general.

On PC, you want VR? You can buy and play so many games You want simracing? There are so much too choose from Strategy, fps games with mouse.. Amazing. Even after years on controller i could never get used to it, its so clunky to play fps with it. 144hz? OMG I FORGOT HOW GOOD IT FEELS. Middle with settings a bit to your preference between better details, res and fps..

Stupid as it sounds, i feel like i have 100% freedom on PC and it feels amazing.. I missed you so much PC gaming

A new 256TB SSD was teased by Samsung at the 2023 Flash Memory Summit.

Implying it doesn't cost a fortune, this solution could solve the problem of limited hard disk space caused by the high storage demands of modern games.

Soon you'll be able to fit all your Steam library in there. Although we all know that half of them will remain unplayed

Arrow keys vs WASD, to cut a long story short my friend is a console gamer and is making the switch to PC and he is swearing blind we should all be using arrow keys but I think WASD is best, what do you guys think?

Don't get me wrong working from home has loads of benefits. But after spending 9+ hours sat at my computer/desk, I really don't feel like spending more hours sat there gaming.

Now I generally flop out on the sofa and will maybe console game. Although with BG3 out recently I am being tempted to get it.. or maybe I'll wait for console release.

Or.. maybe I rig my PC up downstairs to the TV and get one of those mouse & kb lap tray thingys.. 😅

Has working from home, or office/desk working in general discouraged any of you guys with PC gaming?

Why don't game devs just sell the game directly to the user? Do people really need stores like Steam for advertising? When you or your friends discover a game is it via Steam's homepage or is it from a random advertisement, streamer etc I'm just really confused on why Steam is needed. People don't need to buy games directly from the PS store and people still find play station games pretty easily. I don't get it.

I don't want to harp on about the state of modern Battlefield titles, but I'll say this - the DICE of today isnt the DICE of yesteryear. In fact, the only thing that needs to be said is that DICE brought in a guy from CANDY CRUSH to lead Battlefield 2042 to launch.

I'm in my upper 40's and have been playing games for far too many years. I've played a lot of great games over that time, but there's a few like Battlefield 1942 which were just so, so good.

Battlefield 1942 had its problems - from bodgy servers to lag to crashes and buggy vehicle behaviour through to all the fun and games that was your team numpty beaching the aircraft carrier. But man was it a great game.

BF1942 had that raw depth of gameplay that kept me and many others coming back for hundreds of hours.

There were no unlocks, no progression. It was simply pick a class and join the battle. And best of all, you could play however you bloody pleased.

Running gunning assaulter? Anti-vehicle specalist? Medic? Sniper? Pilot? Tanker? Defender? Offensive capturer? Anti-ship?! You name it, the combined arms gameplay offered it.

This largely carried through to Battlefield 2 and beyond, though I'll argue none of the games that followed (to me at least) really provided the same level of combined arms gameplay as 42. Even though the ships were buggy as hell to use, the fact they were there was huge.

The recent Battlefield titles have moved further and further away from this old style of gameplay. There's been some fantastic additions - some of my favourites being Battlefield Vietnam, Battlefield 2142 (NOT 2024!), Battlefield 2, Battlefield 3 etc.

There's been other team based shooters over the years which I've loved - both Planetside's for example, even a stint of COD (I reckon some of the latter day COD's have been more Battlefieldesque than Battlefield).

Then along comes Battlebit.

This came out of the blue to me. I hadnt followed it, I knew nothing about it until it started showing up in my YouTube feeds.

I jumped in one of the pre-release tests and my first impression was ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

It looked like crap, i was running miles to find combat and I logged out and moved on.

Then it released and it's trailer hooked me enough for a second shot and goddamn, this game is so good.

Graphically, while literally about as simple as you can possibly get with nothing by way of lighting or literally anything of note, in the context of the game itself, that becomes a non-issue within minutes.

When you're charging into battle at the start of the round with so many other friendlies - all who disperse across the map leading to firefights everywhere, suddenly it transforms into this surprisingly mature shooter experience, with combat activity that I honestly cant say I've experienced since the old days of 1942.

There's this thing that happens when you throw a whole bunch of players together on the same team and equip them with something extremely basic such as being able to drag a downed comrade back into cover and revive them. Players form these little frontlines across the map in pockets of cover and work together to either hold them or advance.

When you throw local voice chat into the mix, it adds a layer of flavour to the field which I've found quite honestly surprising.

Despite the simple graphics, Battlebit offers field visibility like no game in recent years. You have instantenous visibility of enemy - and things like using cover, or firing through narrow gaps become a case of utilising the environment, rather than being inside a map which is so graphically intensive, actually seeing the enemy is part of the learning curve.

Battlebit also nails the feeling of taking people down with its simply yet meaty sound effects when you kill someone. This is even moreso when sniping, where this ridiculously satisfying breaking egg-like sound secures the kill.

While the vehicles so far leave a lot to be desired, the infantry gameplay is insanely good.

It just works so well

It also shows definitively how badly the big games have declined, with their focus on cutting edge graphics and monetization at the complete expense of good gameplay or that old thing called heart.

For anyone on the fence who like me, may have become completely jaded with the modern state of one of their formery favourite franchises, I honestly implore you to give this a shot because like me, it might surprise you in a big way. It's likely not for everyone, but it might just might, be for you.

I'm trying to understand the complexity behind porting games to PC.

Do devs have to rewrite large parts of the game to make it work on a variety of PC hardware?

Or is it as simple as throwing a wrapper around the existing code?

Have to move in like 2 days. Currently living in the woods and dont have access to proper PC packaging. Is filling my PC with clean socks and underwear to protect the components from a 2000 mile drive a good or really really dumb idea?

Let me know what you think

Thanks

This is hypothetical, not guaranteed to happen but still possible. How will this affect video game preservation, the industry and of course: always online DRM games.
