Full text search has been merged in #Mastodon main branch, and will be in the next (and final?) 4.2.0 beta 🎉 It is opt-in, so it will take some time to be filled with people content as they enable their profile to be indexed, but this was one of the most wanted Mastodon features for some time. We plan to deploy it to mastodon.social and mastodon.online in the coming days to have a bit more feedback on it and see how it behaves in the wild.

I want to get into writing (primarily political), and while I've written some to those, I want to get as far away from centralized social media as I can.

The NLnet foundation has played a significant role in the fediverse, with their financial support for most major projects. In this piece I meet some of the people behind NLnet, and get to know the foundation.

Unsure if this fits here, but the tool's been quite fun to look through. It lets you look at specific Fediverse software and instances, see graphs for their growth. And there's even a whole section for the Threadiverse (Lemmy & Kbin)

I understand in any Foss project federated delete can be turned off by forking the project and removing it but I feel like for the vast majority of instances they won't do that. I noticed Lemmy does not support federated delete leaving me unable to delete post from other instances. Is this planned?
