If misspelling one word on mobile makes me a moron then you're an easy block.

So it's helping the servers not the individual book downloads?

[–] ocean@lemmy.selfhostcat.com 11 points 1 month ago

I didn't say that's what it meant.

This article also confirms for me that it is pointless to donate to Wikipedia. Most of these donations go to non-Wikipedia activities.

I do love the Wikipedia software though. Run multiple instances.

Why is your username Wikipedia sucks lol?

Interesting read but got to call out one part that made me think this reporter is at least partially nonsense:

Mburugu did not respond to an e-mail sent late Wednesday evening.

This article was published on Thursday. Late Wednesday night is most likely midnight or later in Kenya. Essentially the author gave zero time to reply.

I used to like edge. It was a much better choice over chrome and IE.

Thanks for that but I mean when someone downloads a book from the site they aren’t torrenting so how does torrenting help

[–] ocean@lemmy.selfhostcat.com 3 points 1 month ago (8 children)

How knowledgeable are you about that site? How does seeding help normal downloads?

Just wanted to share in case others encounter this dumb issue.

Unsure what to do. Hsjon and yml are standard. Is pictrs only using its own database or is it having an issue with postgres? I have it set in the hjson to http://pictrs:8080/ which is standard

It may have been solved:

I did chown -R 991:991 pictrs to change ownership of the pictrs folder

Most of my original subs come from .world so I don’t know what’s worth following on .ml, lemmygrad, hexbear, etc.

Maybe I could even extend this question to what communities in non major instances are worth subing too.

It’s been nice to see ordinary Americans open up to life in China but everyone is acting blind to their censorship. Makes me thankful for the fediverse and being able to self host my own instance.

I tried added a key file and even a password txt but both lead to it still asking for me to type in the password.

Is it because the drive is encrypted? I tried placing the files at /, /boot, /root, /etc

Edit1: I’ve tried to install dropbear and give it ssh keys. I will try to reboot in the morning and see what happens

Edit2: signing in via ssh just says port 22 rejected not working :(

Edit3: neither dropbear for ssh or keyfile worked. I give up.

Libgen.li worked well.

Edit: someone in the comments says restored. I’m on mobile can’t link them

I should have clarified I don’t mean for the day, I mean for a week plus.

Edit: I left them on for a month. Bad thing about being encrypted is I had to have someone login.
