I had an extraordinary experience today, but it didn't relate to a hobby or career or political topic. I tried to find an appropriate community but I guess I don't have the right terms. Where can one turn to share triumphs, defeats, and sacred moments?

I call my mother, she's always happy to hear what's going on

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 9 points 7 months ago (1 children)

This.

OP, if your mother is still with us, give her a call. Maybe just ask her how her day was. Maybe save your stuff for a call tomorrow.

I'm calling my mom tomorrow. She's like 1% fuddy now and tells the same stories, but she really likes those stories.

That's so sweet. The time we have with our loved ones really is a gift

Are you looking for an online space or an irl space? Online you can try /casualconversation

[–] grant@toast.ooo 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Could you link to what instance it’s hosted on? (Eg !casualconversation@)

!casualconversation@lemmy.world

I’ll often post things that I don’t know where to post on Mastodon.

I don't really go anywhere per-se. I tell my wife, and if it's especially big I'll tell a friend or two.

I talk to my beautiful wife, but she's a neurotypical accounting genius, so I know half the shit I say sounds like a child talking about brontosauruses.

Mom somehow feigns interest and I never fully clue in. Teach a 75 year old woman about kubernetes? Ok. Walk her through upgrading her video card over the phone? Sure! It's only after that I realize she just wants to hear my voice.

Haha I feel that. When I talk to my wife, I often have to preface my ramblings with "I know you don't care about this, but..."

My therapist

Sounds like !chat@beehaw.org (hopefully I wrote that tag correctly!) would be a good fit. I hope to read about your experience there! :) It's not a fun feeling, having something happen and wanting to tell people about it but not really having a good person/people to tell.

I go to Belle Isle and release my frustrations at Canada. Helps makes their flowers grow.

I go out side and rant to the clouds. It helps, trust me!
