Psst. Go look up beautiful places like ucluelet and shawnigan and Renfrew and angle hard for a 100% remote job. My dear friend got hers and moved to a place with great internet and vastly reduced hassle. I so envy her ;-)

Yeesh. Can confirm. c$4/sqft/mo in the V3L.

c$1.6m for a moldy (no res permit) fully detached that's been there since WW1. Gonna need gutting and remediating for about c$.3m but it looks good in photos.

But verrry little snow to mess up the frail subway.

Come up and get sworn in. We're at risk of a populist conservative wank ruining the things we hold dear and we could use more sanity.

On the island in western Canada they have a yearly tradition of going into the mountains and snowboarding around and then travelling an hour or so to the coast and kayaking. Little cold for surfing but they do that too.

Wait until you hear them speak. It's music. Can't nearly comprehend it, like you were dropped into St John's , blind drunk, but they certainly love the language with each syllable.

Jacinda got booted, though, and they're on a conservative swing for a bit. Standard post-covid bellyaching leveraged by some slick populist full of lies and scams, but they're not going to give away the country - ahem - before they claw their sanity back.

I hear they're fighting some gaijin racism in the cities, as they maintain a strong "us" vs "not us" awareness and it can get tricky.

Yep, that's my list too. My nephew went to NZ but I've been to a few nordics and I can confirm life is easier there. More taxes, way better life: economies of scale, my dood.

The best one I've seen is the one with the deceptively harsh name that implies a place no one wants to visit. It's great PR. Go there. It's pricy as hell if you try to live like an American with the fast food and flash, but just live, and you'll find a vibrant lifestyle and real happiness.

Yep, nordics are the happiest places on earth.

Kamala Harris was given an assignment that no other person in American history was given — to construct a presidential campaign in 90-100 days with absolutely no expectation or anticipation that she would be called to that assignment

Canada's federal election process is 36-50 days, or half that.

I agree with most of what was written, but I wanted to point out that countries put forth a scalable platform every 4-5 years in half the time. It's a bag-drive, but it's the timeline.

I had a bad schedule for my jobs and, for 2 weeks, I had no sleep on Saturday night. I only had like 4 hours between closing one and opening another shop, and the buses near Anderson were scarce at that time; so it was get home, shower, re-dress, get back out. Yeesh.

Back then it was 2 hour minimum scheduled shift for $5/h min and I hope to hell it's better now. Tips and a longer shift or GTFO.

Either way, it's no life.

Well that means we have to ask every.fucking.time .

"Mr PeeResident, have you changed your stance and goals on human rights and how it extends to bodily autonomy for women?"

Grats if you have other options. Totally do it. You can still vote.

Apparently if you move to a swing state first, you become a swing-state voter forever. That's more valuable than even a Montana residency.

Air Canada has apologized to customers who were allegedly escorted off a plane for refusing to sit in a chair covered with vomit for the duration of their over four-hour flight.

The airline issued a statement after a viral Facebook post claimed two as-yet unidentified female flyers were told there was nothing to be done about the visible vomit on their soiled seats.

Oh! AirCanada!

We've been using Yum (and now its "differenter name is betterer" dnf) for what, 20 years?

You think we'll ever get someone with a clue to fix this? Will RedHat going all IBM about source code help?

Okay, so what's with Gitlab and ServiceNow getting so fat on whitespace that they no longer fit in half a 1920x1200 screen properly?

What's the standard width that actual professional webdevs are building toward? Is there a standard, or like app dependendencies are they back to pre-y2k "moar moar nom nom" methodologies?

Look. It happens a few times a week, where reps in 3 time-zones will be fucked by an interruption to azure services like o341 or sharepoint (we don't do VMs in azure; not secure enough).

I'm used to shadenfreuding Reddit over that, or at least finding it's not just our company firewall and VPN taking the Proverbial.

Is there a sub I can join to get the topical junk like that? I'm too indolent - like a fox! - to go to twitter (or ideally mastodon) for a more suitable location; but will I find it there if I do? Can it be here too?

I didn't find this yet, but please downvote to hell itself and drop a link to the proper prior post in comments if you find it.

In here, eventually, are some comments from the Fedora project leader about how RHEL trying to kill open access to source and packaging source code is potentially going to affect Fedora, RedHat's ginger adopted stepchild which it usually overlooks.

I must say there's a LOT to wait through and one of them has a mic with a bad level at times, and I didn't sit all the way through. Tell me if I've been scammed, but I thought this may have value and I'm hoping to hear confirmation of that too.

Enjoy? Or flame me. Happy Friday.
