Before 150 years ago a lot of our ancestors spent a lot of time staring at the night sky and imagining shit.

Probably high on stuff that'd be illegal nowadays, too.

Without knowledge of where the colors came from, where the connections came from, or where the yellow highlights came from, it might as well all be unicorns.

Without knowledge of where the data came from it migt as well be the unicorn's data.

What's the difference between knowledge and wisdom?

[–] SlopppyEngineer@lemmy.world 37 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Knowledge is knowing it's a one way street. Wisdom is still looking both ways to check for crazies going the wrong way.

Knowledge is knowing that tomatoes are a fruit. Wisdom is not using it in fruit salad.

[–] Zozano@lemy.lol 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Enlightenment is doing it anyway because you like tomatoes.

!Cherry tomatoes are juicy and sweet, and are totally fine in a fruit salad!<

[–] Zron@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

If anyone ever gives me a fruit salad with cherry tomatoes in it, I’m immediately going to go check their freezer for body parts.

[–] Zozano@lemy.lol 3 points 1 year ago

Don't check my freezer

[–] DrownedRats@lemmy.world 32 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad.

[–] Rubanski@lemm.ee 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Have you tried putting cherry tomatoes in a fruit salad? It's quite nice and common in parts of Asia

[–] zalgotext@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago

Technically salsa is a fruit salad, I put tomatoes in that

Wisdom is to knowing not to correct Aunt Bertha when she calls Uncle Frank a vegetable farmer at his funeral.

Within the image, realizing that everything is connected seems to be knowledge, and realizing the specific method of connection seems to be wisdom. Realistically, intelligence is knowing a tomato is a fruit, but wisdom is knowing a tomato-based fruit salad is salsa.

Something to do with being able to figure out where a poison dart came from.
