The point is that they've always been 'woke', and it's insane that people think that 'now' they've changed to 'become' woke.
Movies and TV shows are modern art forms, and as such are created by artists.
Artists have almost always been politically left of centre, usually wildly so.
Video games have likewise been ‘woke’ for a long fucking time too - but don’t you dare try to make that point to Gamers^TM^.
Next they'll be complaining that Christianity's gone 'woke'.
Sorry, you're too late. As usual, conservatives are already more awful than you expect.

Moore told NPR in an interview released Tuesday that multiple pastors had told him they would quote the Sermon on the Mount, specifically the part that says to “turn the other cheek,” when preaching. Someone would come up after the service and ask, “Where did you get those liberal talking points?”
“What was alarming to me is that in most of these scenarios, when the pastor would say, ‘I’m literally quoting Jesus Christ,’ the response would not be, ‘I apologize.’ The response would be, ‘Yes, but that doesn’t work anymore. That’s weak,’” Moore said. “When we get to the point where the teachings of Jesus himself are seen as subversive to us, then we’re in a crisis.”
If they think Christ is too weak and his words outdated, then maybe they should stop calling themselves Christians?
Satire is dead.
Imagine that you're awake, with your eyes open, aware of the issues in the world, and wanting to be part of making it better, and...
...there's a massive number of people who think you're a shithead for believing that, and should probably be murdered for it. Just do what they tell you.
Woke has become one of my favourite words. It's like when i was a kid, and everything was gay. Now it's woke. He's playing street fighters one woke controls. And same with the word gay, and how it was used, it was always funny when someone used it as an actual insult and you're just like: oh yeah, i actually don't care. Guess i'm woke then.
When I first started my current job a couple of years ago, there was a discussion going on in the office complaining about 'woke', albeit fairly mildly, which I wasn't really participating in. My boss, who's ex-army asked 'Are you woke Almacca?', to which I replied 'I'm woke as fuck.' She hasn't brought it up again since. :)
The "anti-woke" men at my office once crowned me the "woke police" because I commented on one of their sexist/racist/homophobic/ whatever "jokes". It's my badge of honour. The weird part is that we kinda entered into some sort of cold war. I could comment on their "jokes", pretending it was in jest as part of my job as "woke police", while still getting the message across. I guess it kinda kept some semblance of friendliness and ability to cooperate while we still got our opinions out.
Fuck you, I won't do whatcha tell me!
It would be a boring movie if the protagonist were asleep all the time.
I liked RATM, but then they became political. No thank you.
I liked Motörhead but they also became political like 4 songs into their first album
Conservatives are scared of literally everything.
It must be exhausting to be such pussies.
Star Wars: Fighting space Nazis
Superman: protecting people from Lex Luthor; evil billionaire
Star Trek: Post scarcity society where all humans are treated as equals and nobody “gets” to be a billionaire (Fully Automated Luxury Gay Space Communism)
Doctor Who: had a woman Doctor once
Marvel: “Evil is bad, how about let’s not genocide” (ignoring the billionaire worship w/ Iron Man)
X-Men: always been an allegory for LGBTQ+ and disabled folks
RATM: I mean, it’s in the name.
Starting to see a theme here hmm
I always thought X-Men was about civil rights...
Yeah it’s an allegory for racism and civil rights.

Babylon 5: Fighting Earth fascists. Hey, wait a damn minute...
Superman is woke because he just helps people and doesn't charge a fee.
Sounds like socialism to me. Are you saying Superman is a Commie?
Probably nowhere near as bad as that hippy freak, what was his name... "Jesus"?
If by "woke" you mean scientific intelligence, reason, truth, honour and compassion, then I'm all for it.
Little babies getting their feelings hurt. If only they could read and understand that woke is a form of being awake/aware and their self owns by making fun of it is blatantly hilarious. Only the media and the right get all up in arms over woke, the rest of us just call it reality.
Rage against the machine became woke? They were über woke before it was a thing.
That's the joke I guess?
I'm shocked to learn that the band that wrote Wake Up might possibly be woke!
Well yeah, they're all woke now. They used to be woke before too, but they're still woke now as well, as they should.
I thought when they said “Wake Up!” they were actually saying “Be passive! The status quo is totally fine!”
Man, why cant anything be FOR the systems of oppression that prop up my fragile masculinity?
Seriously! I started listening to Rage Against the Machine specifically because they had songs like “Thank you, I’ll always do what you tell me” and “Wake Up (to the genocidal leftist conspiracy)”. This whole 180 they’ve made has been devastating.
They can’t grasp that these things have not changed, but they joined the bad guys so their perspectives changed. They can’t see the billionaires gilded puppet strings manipulating them.
I always wondered if the people who commonly are depicted as the bad guys in movies ever just don't go to movies because they hate being depicted as evil, but it turns out they just didn't actually pay any attention to the movies to have noticed the bad guys are basically them.
"No, what I'm doing is different!"
Wait till they learn the matrix is about trans rights.
I'm convinced that that was just something that they decided to tack on to as an afterthought because it doesn't really make sense to view it in that context.
Especially if you include the sequels.
It’s not about trans rights as much as it’s a highly metaphorical film about trans experience. So metaphorical in fact it could be argued it fails (failed) in its messaging. Even after the Wachowski sisters broke the news to everyone, the film still isn’t regarded that way. It’s a nice after note and I’m certainly not trying to rag on trans rights or issues here, it’s just that The Matrix didn’t do much of anything for trans people.
I just watched Alien (1979) and the damn democraps made it woke. When I was growing up in the 80's not everything had to be a social commentary. The cops saved people like in Robocop (1987) and the terrorists were stopped like in Star Wars (1977) because America are the good guys. MAGA!!
Except Starship Troopers, that movie is taken at face value. Would you like to know more?
