GOOD! I was getting a Little Worried that Hogg and Kenyatta's presence would FORCE Dems to Pivot to Candidates that can ACTUALLY Win Elections! We CANT have THAT happening!

[–] rodneyck@piefed.social 2 points 2 days ago

Oh don't worry, the DNC will make sure to oust them. Have faith, the anti-democracy uni-party.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 46 points 2 days ago

The DNC: Putting the "controlled" in "controlled opposition" for more than half a century!

They followed the procedure and that was the error. The one that they wanted didn't win.

[–] HuskerNation@lemmy.zip 10 points 2 days ago

Smells like Bernie all over again

[–] HuskerNation@lemmy.zip 26 points 2 days ago (1 children)

When will Dems learn? they can't win without the progressive vote and perhaps they don't want to, maybe they are ok making bank while rubes are in charge.

It's time for a 3rd party

Fuck that! There's way more MAGA voters than progressives. You gotta go where the numbers are. /s

The DNC is just a bureaucratic dinosaur. Their over focus on procedure and Washington strategist gobbledygook cost them the last election. All they do is tie themselves in knots over the minutia of rules and optics while the Trumpian movement steam rolls them just acting. They need a complete house cleaning of the old guard, Hogg is right. Even the ones not bought and paid for are hamstrung from being effectual for all their pathetic red tape laden infighting and nit picking. It couldn’t be less affective if it was designed to fail.

Translation: they're butthurt that somebody actually wants Democrats to be Democrats and not Republicrats.

[–] lostoncalantha@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago

Democrats are cooked then. I hope in in the latter half of this century history books will accurately reflect that democrats and neoliberals helped enable the rise of fascism and Trump.

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 16 points 2 days ago

"Procedural error"? As in, they accidentally allowed a progressive to win?

[–] thisphuckinguy@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

The DNC can eat deez nutz. Hogg doesn’t need them

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

Won't somebody think of the parlementarian!

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

The rules were violated under the last chair, and Martin kicked it to committee instead of unilaterally making the call.

We don't need a DNC that favors progressives, we just need one that will let fair elections happen.

And for the first time in decades, we have that.

[–] Lasherz12@lemmy.world 35 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Following the Democratic rules in the DNC the one time it benefits the establishment seems a little disingenuous, but I guess we're all free to imagine that this is how all elections will be in the future. I find it hard to believe, especially with Hogg out.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago (2 children)

You're thinking of the DNC as a single entity.

It's not.

It's about 400 people who vote for chair and vice chairs. And over time those voters as a group have become more progressive.

The chair has final say on everything, and is accountable to no one. Ken Martin could have done whatever he wanted, but he can't time travel to before he became chair and enforce the DNC's rules.

He choose the democratic path forward...

So I don't understand why people keep hanging the sins of past DNC's on his head. If you want to know what kind of leader he's gonna be, I'm not asking for blind faith, he has a track record and all signs point to him running the DNC like he ran Minnesota for over a decade immediately before becoming DNC chair.

But imagine your ideal candidate becomes president 2028, and I show up and start saying they're gonna be terrible because of all the shit trump is doing right now. If I told you it didn't matter because they're both holding the same office, I wouldn't be surprised if people called me crazy...

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

He can run it any way he wants. There’s 399 other people who can try to stop him.

I’m not holding my breath. Dems have failed me so damn always.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 1 points 2 days ago

At any rate, none of us have a say. So we will be watching closely.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Considering how cynical you were about the DNC under its previous leadership, it's remarkable how optimistic you are about it now. I hope you're right.

[–] santa@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 days ago

Don’t expect change without change.

[–] cabron_offsets@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Suck my dick.
