and to think all lemmy users live like this

[–] Korhaka@sopuli.xyz 5 points 14 hours ago

I wish I had a dedicated serving trough. Just have to make do and eat them from the pot they were cooked in.

[–] LanguageIsCool@lemmy.world 4 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

That’s the picture I submitted in my Lemmy account application

[–] CmdrShepard42@lemm.ee 4 points 14 hours ago

Roll that beautiful bean footage.

[–] PlantPowerPhysicist@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

why were there so many beans in that context

[–] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 4 points 13 hours ago

There's always the appropriate amount of beans unless there's not enough beans.

[–] Mr_Dr_Oink@lemmy.world 3 points 16 hours ago

That looks intentional.

I have one of these:

I love it, much better than a normal strainer.

(And it doesn't take a lot of space in the drawer or dishwasher)

Yep, the sink is ugly.

[–] banshee@lemmy.dbzer0.com 51 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You should clean your sink. Someone spilt pasta in it.

[–] fluxion@lemmy.world 7 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Just pour cheese or sauce on top and eat. Then when you are done you have no dishes and just need to rinse the sink

[–] HEXN3T@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 15 hours ago
[–] ParadoxSeahorse@lemmy.world 12 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

What is this grill in the sink? Is this a thing

[–] adhocfungus@midwest.social 10 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

It's definitely not required, but ever since we got one I've grown to like it. If you have a ceramic sink it helps prevent scratches. It also helps dishes stay put, like pot lids that normally slide around. Most of all I like it when I put a strainer down. I know the strained liquid won't touch the sink and flow back into the food, even if the risk was low before.

[–] sauce@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 13 hours ago

Also gives a flat surface for pots/jugs to sit on while you're filling them with water. I have them in my sinks at home and love them.

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 6 points 15 hours ago

Yeah feel like there is some context needed. Is OP pissing and shitting in that sink?

[–] Contramuffin@lemmy.world 27 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (3 children)

Have you never seen a bottle brush? If not, get one. It'll change your life

Yeah, but change it how? Maybe it'll run away with your partner.

I prefer my life to be unchanged, thank you very much.

[–] somethingsnappy@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I've never seen one that looks like it has been used as a toilet brush and never cleaned. I do love my clean bottle brushes though.

[–] seekpie@lemmy.seekpie.nohost.me 3 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago)

To me it seems like that the lighting is probably making it look more yellow than it is (looking at the white towel on the bottom right).

I shed a tear and sing In the Arms of an Angel by Heather McLachlan every time I do this. Even for a single noodle.

[–] Contentedness@lemmy.nz 10 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

That there's why I always cook 6x the amount of pasta I need!

Just joking, it's impossible to judge how much pasta I need.

[–] dustyData@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago

There is, but it's not fun or interesting. Just weight the pasta. The change in volume is irrelevant, just make sure it is between 25 to 75 grams of dry pasta. Then you'll get between 50 and 150 grams of pasta per person. The weight gain is absorbed water.

[–] general_kitten@sopuli.xyz 4 points 19 hours ago

i usually just make a lot, pasta is good as leftovers so might as well make a ton as the effort is about same

[–] Chozo@fedia.io 22 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Your side dish said "pasta la vista, baby".

[–] CmdrShepard42@lemm.ee 1 points 14 hours ago

"Get to de choppah!" they said as they rushed toward the garbage disposal.
