Idk, Scrubs ended at season 8 for me. Maybe I'll give it a chance, but I'm keeping expectations pretty low. Reading the article, it seems like it could be worthwhile if it really is just a season or two of "old friends" getting back together for a little fun. We'll see, but it looks like Braff is the only one signed up for now, and that won't really sell it for me

Edit: Working in the medical field makes me a little averse to medical shows. But Scrubs and (now) The Pitt are about the only ones I feel have merit (to me). Despite different styles, they both hit pretty hard sometimes

This one kinda always lives rent free in my mind. It's all about the patient... just do your best and fuck the rest. You can deal with everything else when you're off shift

reboots rarely work out, especially done so "soon" after a series ended. reiminagied series can be good though, like with BSG, but still fall shorts on many things, due to showrunners personal agenda.

Yep I just can't see this working

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

especially with the executives or another showrunner trying to push a agenda based on current issues, it almost always ruin the show.

to emphasize, what they think thier current audience is offended of.

I think I will reserve judgement until I see it. A getting-the-gang-back-together series or two could be a good time, or it could be another "Scrubs: Med School".

When has one of these reboots worked?

When has one of these reboots worked?

An example that comes to mind is the "reboot as new show but with blatant fan service cameos" formula used by "The Big Bag Theory", "Young Sheldon", and "Georgie's First Marriage".

Scrubs could be done well in the same style. Of course, I also liked the last time they tried it.

Another example that worked - "Mission Impossible" - the first movie was a good movie but a bad adaptation of the original show, but the series has gone on to become a completely worthy extension of the original show.

And...well...That's two. So I night just be sharing the exceptions that prove the rule.

I don't know about others, but I kinda liked Picard. It was clear it was just an excuse to get the old gang back together, but it was enjoyable to watch.

I'm not sure how enjoyable it would have been to someone unfamiliar with TNG, but I enjoyed it.

[–] Stillwater@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Honestly I did get giddy setting the TNG crew back together in season 3 of Picard. I could leave the rest

[–] Dave@lemmy.nz 5 points 1 day ago

Now that you mention it, it probably could have done without season 2.

picard was terriblely written series, the "nostalgia" gimmick was just to save the dying show.STD and snw wernt that great, and snw ranked about the other 2 series. however, LOWER DECKS AND PRODIGY were much better series than the other 2.

kurtzman being involved dint help anything either.

The Connors has been successful.

[–] reddig33@lemmy.world 20 points 1 day ago

Guess he and his Scrubs buddies got tired of doing T-Mobile commercials.

[–] VaalaVasaVarde@sopuli.xyz 10 points 1 day ago

Then Zach should play Bob Kelso in the reboot.

[–] kandoh@reddthat.com 15 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I don't think ending each episode with a monologue over an indie song will work today

[–] slaneesh_is_right@lemmy.org 0 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

I never liked scrubs that much. First two or so seasons were alright, but the slapstick and fast forward slide whistle humor was rough. I don't see how any of that would remotely hold up today when there are so many really good shows are out. Scrubs had a place because streaming wasn't athing yet.

[–] froggycar360@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 hour ago

I always just watched it when nothing else was on lol

[–] FooBarrington@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Or is that just what we tell ourselves to cope with your broken promises and dreams?

I was going to say, wait another reboot?

A reboot, you say?

[–] abdominable@lemm.ee 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Half this show was about gay, dick, and fart jokes. Will be an interesting reboot.

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Not everything was like that. In fact, the first season had almost none of that stuff, arguably my favorite season before they started making sillier and sillier jokes.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Well yeah he said half

[–] PillowTalk420@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I hope he comes back as JD, but now he's older and wiser and just as jaded as Dr. Cox, basically fulfilling the same role Cox did.

[–] FooBarrington@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

I want him to play JD playing Dr. Cox

[–] xylol@leminal.space 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Scrubs but in the setting of The Pitt

[–] misterdoctor@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

I’ve never watched scrubs but if they rebooted the show with the same cast and characters but it was super serious and dramatic, I would definitely watch the original series and then the new one to compare because it would be so totally unique

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I hear he’s a never-nude.

[–] InverseParallax@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Oh fuck you dude, now I need to start another rewatch.

[–] mindbleach@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 day ago

Should be fun. Lean into the difference in experience as a mature professional. Get some perspective on why Dr. Cox is Like That.
