Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

“We need to get better at treating this like a business,” Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons said, explaining he wants to see a deportation process “like (Amazon) Prime, but with human beings.”

how the f is this an actual quote from an actual human being?

“Let the badge and guns do the badge and gun stuff, everything else, let’s contract out,” he said.

It's not human trafficking, it's human shipping.

I'm just picturing the train cars filled with Jews, but with the Amazon logo on the side.

[–] jagged_circle@feddit.nl 2 points 1 month ago

So basically Amazon is the new IBM?

I'm so angry that I've had to delete my post twice because I'm sure some narc would report it and try to get me banned or even arrested.

Shits BAD when you realize that the most ethically and morally forthright course of action is also personally deleterious.

But recalling what Jefferson said,

That tree of liberty is looking mighty thirsty.

That's not enough. It's smarter to just leave certain things unsaid - the response to Luigi shows there's no need anyways, it's a pointless risk

Cryptography works.

Snowden said we shouldn't self censor because we do have tools that are enough to protect ourselves, even from the most powerful adversaries

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 1 points 1 month ago

Cryptography works... But Tor has known flaws that can basically only be exploited by the US

But that's not what I'm talking about. Cryptography isn't enough - you also have to have good digital hygiene.

Have you ever accessed the system without tor? Did you use an email associated with anything you use outside tor? Have you ever accessed your email outside tor? Has any part of this digital identity posted personal details or photos taken from any of your cameras?

I don't think you should self censor, but explicitly calling for violence on a government official is a stupid risk - it is the kind of thing that is actively monitored, and it really doesn't need to be said

Someone find his address and Amazon Prime him the biggest dildo they sell.

[–] dojan@lemmy.world 25 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Waste of silicone. I shan't type out what he really deserves because of the rules, so let your imagination fill in the blank.

Those aren’t the D-words I would use.

[–] djsoren19@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 1 month ago (2 children)

If you have his address, you should do a lot more with it. This man is organizing a kidnapping and human trafficking program for Americans.

I’m not trying to get sent to the gulag. Someone has to fill my bird feeder or the squirrels will go hungry while they scare away birds.

[–] Num10ck@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

put some chili powder mixed into the bird seed. the birds wont care but the squirrels will.

[–] jagged_circle@feddit.nl 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Why are you such an asshole? You should probably get tested for psychopathy

[–] Num10ck@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

feel free to add to the conversation, i guess?

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Like Luigi should pay him a visit.

[–] SaltyLemon66@sh.itjust.works 21 points 1 month ago

ICE director needs a fuckin bullet in his nazi skull.

[–] DogEatWaffle@startrek.website 18 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Nazis used trains & ledgers. We'll use planes and rfid tags.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago

Oh come on, can't we use the Trump Train highspeed rail? Counting on it being so shoddily built it falls apart on the first trip.

Somehow I feel this is going to involve a fat government contract with Tesla to use their fleet of unsold Cybertrucks rotting in Tesla dealerships.

I present to you: the Slavertruck: autopilot automated human trafficking.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I wouldn't be surprised to see Bezos helping out.

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago

Very disgusting thing to say.

[–] False@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

What does that even mean? Guy probably has no idea.

[–] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

Hey, I've got a better idea: what if we had something like government leadership, but with human beings?

[–] jagged_circle@feddit.nl 4 points 1 month ago

sorry, I dont buy from amazon. Wtf does this mean
