“people are flushing toilets 10 times, 15 times, as opposed to once” as a result of insufficient water pressure

How do US toilets work? It should be independent of water pressure, there is a tank of water that gets prefilled, right?

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 174 points 5 days ago (13 children)

it is. he's just full of shit. no one is flushing more than once unless there's something wrong with their own plumbing. this is a non issue he's made up

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 76 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

He’s probably clogging his own toilets and instead of blaming his McDiet blames the Obama-Biden Industrial Complex.

[–] WhatAmLemmy@lemmy.world 19 points 5 days ago (1 children)

He doesn't blame them personally. He and every GOP politician don't actually believe most of the propaganda they peddle; excluding regards like MTG and public handjob hooker.

Most of what they say and do is a performance — it's all part of the conservative cinematic universe — manufactured to manipulate the feefees of the mentally-ill MAGA cult. I'm not saying they aren't imminently dangerous fascists. I'm saying we shouldn't entertain the idea that their words mean anything but grift.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 12 points 5 days ago

While it's true there is a huge amount of performance in the average republiQan spiel, trump absolutely blames Obama and Biden personally.

Supporting facts include his pathological need to injure them at all times no matter the circumstance or reasoning.

They may signify things to him psychologically but he talks about and reacts to them as personalities and has done so since the start of this insanity.

It was a complaint about 25 years ago when the first iteration came out. There was a full King of the Hill episode about it. Since then they refined the low flow toilets to be as good as the older style.

Probably trying to flush too much paperwork at once.

[–] markovs_gun@lemmy.world 15 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Morbidly obese people have giant greasy shits and evi friendly toilets are designed for normal sized shits that contain some amount of fiber. If you weigh 300 lbs and only eat cheesburgers (like a certain president) it's possible that you need multiple flushes per shit.

He’s living in the 90’s. This was a big deal to people mid 90’s there is even a Seinfeld episode about illegal high flow shower heads as a b story for Kramer.

Bruh. Trump is a fucking liar. Almost every single thing that comes out of his mouth is a lie. Even stuff he doesn't NEED to lie about.

I have lived in the US my entire life and grew up in abject poverty (think really, really shitty housing infrastructure). I have never seen a toilet that needed to be flushed 10 fucking times. I mean, I know Republicans are completely full of shit but even they can't cause that to happen. It's laughable.

To give the benefit of the doubt, which I don't think he deserves, he may be dealing with low-flow toilets which waste a lot less water. And when you eat McDonald's every day, you probably get backed up pretty badly and maybe overload the toilet on a regular basis.

Most of his toilet problems could probably be solved with a poop knife.

He has no fucking idea how anything works. Even his own EO has nothing to do with water pressure, it's about flow rate. The guy is a moron.

He claimed in 2019 that “people are flushing toilets 10 times, 15 times, as opposed to once” as a result of insufficient water pressure.

Uhh, this sounds like a "you" problem, Mr. President. More fiber might help. Anyway, thanks for broadcasting your bowel troubles to the whole world, it sure makes you look strong.

[–] Scrawny@lemm.ee 69 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Changing of water pressure won't do anything for most household toilets except fill the tank faster.

[–] BakedCatboy@lemmy.ml 37 points 5 days ago (10 children)

The dumb thing is that the EO is actually about flow rate, but lots of Americans probably don't understand flow rate and believe that water saving shower heads cause lower pressure.

What's really ironic is that flow and pressure are inversely proportional, so using a high flow shower head as Trump prefers actually reduces the pressure (force) with which the water comes out.

I had to try to explain this to a right winger expat in Ecuador who couldn't understand why he couldn't fix his dribbling shower when his wife was washing dishes by just slapping higher flow fixtures into them. I was unsuccessful.

[–] MangoCats@feddit.it 17 points 5 days ago

This is another case of completely misusing words with the implicit "you know what I mean" attached. The truly insincere thing about this method is that because everything it says needs interpretation everything it says is interpreted in the most convenient ways for those with the power to choose which interpretation they prefer.

He's flushing paperwork because he can't read it and he doesn't want anyone else to.

[–] vxx@lemmy.world 21 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (2 children)

Don't you have those watertanks that fill up and release the water when you press it in america?

There's no water pressure in my toilet, just gravity.

[–] limelight79@lemm.ee 17 points 4 days ago

Yes, we do. We also have a moron for a president.

He wears a fucking diaper. He's shitting his own pants. No way he's flushing toilets.

[–] Mediocre_Bard@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago

It was later determined that someone had tried to flush documents down the presidential toilet ... so ... you know.

I often think about how Hank Hill would react to our current political climate. He's too pure for this shit. I think in the last election he would've bit his tongue, voted Democrat, and shivered whenever he thought about it.

Enough with the executive orders. Jesus. Is this a national emergency too??

[–] cupcakezealot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 34 points 5 days ago (3 children)

executive orders are better than laws since executive orders have no weight and are easily undone next administration.

[–] moody@lemmings.world 21 points 5 days ago (1 children)

They are also very commonly used by most modern presidents, but most of them haven't had much attention brought to them, while Trump's basically all have. Mostly because they're pretty much all stupid and/or controversial.

Just another ”fascist playbook” thing. Declaring war on pointless, or almost pointless, stuff to make people feel that the country is ”under attack” and to downplay actual important stuff

I wonder how many of those political decoy flares he has in stock. Useless stories that ire up people just to distract them from real problems. Like the "Gulf of America" thing, or the showerhead pressure.

[–] JimVanDeventer@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

I might have missed the one wherein he makes electric cooktops illegal but I think that one is still coming, at least. And potatoes must use masculine pronouns. And it is domestic terrorism for Taylor Swift to be a meaniepants anymore. Something, something Dr. Seuss. Masturbation will make you blind (please self-report to the nearest blinding centre).

[–] Furbag@lemmy.world 14 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Any idiot with a pair of pliers can take the flow regulator out of a consumer-grade shower head that you can buy off the shelf at any hardware store in the country and get as much water pressure as your pipes are capable of pumping into it.

Here's hoping we all still have enough money to buy shower heads in the new Trump economy so we can enjoy the fruits of his labor. Who needs prosperity and economic stability when you have a roaring torrent of water to take a depression shower like a real American patriot?

The master of distraction.

I do sometimes worry about how posting the joke-y stuff can distract from the important stuff, but I guess there's also value in being able to have a laugh

As an additional layer of stupid, most of the "low pressure" seen in showers is due to water saver shower heads and have nothing to do with the pressure going to or in the home. So this literally proposing that the government regulates your water regulating shower heads.
