FYI - This is the Dilbert guy.

NOT the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy guy. That's Douglas Adams.
Also, NOT the old school text adventure game guy. That's this Scott Adams.

Great Podcast recommendation here! 'Behind the Bastards: How the Dilbert guy lost his mind.'
Also all their other stuff.

Weird how many of these crazy conservatives have literal brain damage, huh?

[–] Unaware7013@kbin.social 28 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

Might not be that weird, I'd bet one leads to the other.

On a 100% anecdotal note, I had a liberal uncle that had a massive personality shift after a motorcycle accident, and became a massive piece of shit and trump supporter after his recovery. Would not surprise me to find that brain issues turn people into asshole conservatives.

Boomers and Gen X'ers had the highest exposure to fumes from leaded gasoline. Removing it in the 1980s literally caused the crime rates to plummet significantly year over year. That's Trump's stronghold demographic - people whose minds have been completely addled by lead poisoning over time.

That sounds like TBI for sure.

[–] diffuselight@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

But they didn’t. He was a racist asshole in 2004, he just thinks it’s acceptable now. No losing of mind, no mind virus, no radicalization. Just Trump making it acceptable to be in the kkk again.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 22 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Technically both Douglas Adams and Scott Adams were/are old school text adventure guys.

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Goddamn Babel Fish dispenser.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

That's nothing. Ever play his other game, Bureaucracy? It's basically impossible. I eventually did it with hints just to read the text and there is a section where you're on a jumbo jet and if you don't keep switching to the exact right seats on the jet, it crashes and you die and the only clue to where and when to sit was something inconsequential way at the beginning of the game.

[–] uphillbothways@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

That's part of why it's all so confusing, really the underlying cause I think, for me.

[–] deeply_moving_queef@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Also not the creative visionary behind “Requiem for a Tuesday”, Adam Scott

[–] TheLowestStone@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

If Adam Scott ever turns out to be as looney as Scott Adam's it might break me.

Also not the original Green Lantern Alan Scott.

You’ve linked racist Scott Adams as old school text adventure game guy. Not sure if that was intentional or an honest mistake.

[–] uphillbothways@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

There's two Scott Adams. That's actually both of their names. (I think I got the links right.)

The perils of having a generic name

Oh, my bad then. Perhaps my app's a bit wonky.
