This is why it's so important to have Democratic politicians who actually stand for something.
I see so many people trapped in a state of denial about elections. They hold desperately to the idea that Democrats can somehow magically win simply by not being Republicans. That doesn't work, hasn't worked, and will never work. The problem with this standard is that it encourages Democrats to be only a tiny little bit better than the fascists, making the election fascist vs. fascist lite, so of course tons of people stay home.
But people like yelling at voters instead of the powerful politicians; it's always easier to punch down than punch up. Republicans scapegoat minorities, Democrats scapegoat their voters. Democrats nominate fascist-lite candidates election after election and then bitch at the voters for not bothering to vote.
But denial apparently is a river in Egypt, so people will continue to blame voters instead of the fascist-lite Democrats.

Pew’s latest study suggests that Trump would have won even if they all voted.
Mostly because the majority of Americans seem to be OK with face eating leopards.

America is NOT a progressive country.
In general, the people ARE actually pretty progressive (as evidenced byprogressive policies tending to be favored by overwhelming majorities when not attached to the name of someone the establishment has spent millions if not billions vilifying).
The main problem is that the political system has fallen so deep into corruption that it's a representative democracy in name only.
It's way past time for rebellion against not just the fascists, but also the system itself and the Democrats who consider it more important than the general welfare of the people.
Revolution sounds exhausting. Blaming voters means I can simply wait for other people to change by learning the right lessons even though they never seem to.
It is. But at some point, the tank fills and continuing to bend over backwards to survive the boring dystopia becomes even MORE exhausting.
Whether we're there yet is debatable, but more and more people seem to think so.

That is a good point, and I think the difficult part is the initial change. Once you connect to a revolutionary/vanguard community with it's own cultural riches on the other end then it is as you say, the less exhausting option.

National elections are won by the over representation of land versus people and the winner-take-all electoral college.
It's a very broken system but it's the one we have. So yes, the people are progressive but land and the electoral college wins elections.
Trump won the electoral college twice, but the second one also the popular vote.
Both of those times were through an antiquated and unrepresentative system and with less than 50% the vote with low voter participation.
Less than a third of the eligible to vote population ≠ the country.
Well-meaning people pretending/being fooled into honestly believing that the presidential elections accurately reflect the will of the people without any trickery and downright fraud is how the corrupt demagoguery is allowed to persist.

There are tens of millions of Americans for whom voting is made extremely difficult and time-consuming if not downright impossible to do by deliberate voter suppression tactics from (mostly but not exclusively) Republicans.
If there had been free, open, and fair elections, the GOP would never be able to win a nationwide election.
You don't fix the system by assuming that it works as officially intended and blaming the powerless for the outcomes created by the powerful and corrupt.
You don't need to walk uphill for 20 miles in the snow to vote. You need to check a website anytime in the months before the election and then stand in line for a while. As the worse case, because sometimes you can vote early or per Mail.

Also, and this cannot fail to bare mentioning, Harris and Biden both campaigned on a policy of mass deportation. Dems are still bragging that they deported more people than Trump. Mass deportation is a bipartisan policy.

You could argue they campaigned on being tough on immigration, but deportation instead of path to citizenship where possible is the difference.
That is part of the outrage: Biden granted asylum, biden laid out a framework to get to citizenship, and trumps taking that away, arresting at court hearings of people who had been given a chance.

Sorry, but I have to call you out on this. This "fuck right off" attitude is exactly why Democrats lose elections. You know how people call Democrats smug and out of touch? It's because of this right here.
People hate Democrats when they're smug assholes. Democrats do generally have better policy positions than Republicans. But many Democrats take this way too far, adopting a sports team attitude of their side being always right.
OP rightfully pointed out that Democrats are just as onboard with mass deportation as Republicans. Trump is currently using the mass ICE infrastructure that Biden helped build up to new heights. On immigration, both parties are extremely right wing. This is an absolute, indisputably true fact. But you then have the arrogance to tell someone pointing this out to "fuck right off."
This is why democrats lose elections. This is the smugness people hate. Many liberals view politics as a sports team and refuse to accept the failures of their own team. And on immigration, Democrats are only a tiny iota better than Republicans.

They didn't campaign on mass deportation as one has claimed, but they did justify people's fears of immigrants.
