I have never seen a dem advertisement based on deportation.

To say “both sides” campaigned on a policy of mass deportation is a straight up lie. Mass deportation isn’t bi-partisan as you say… with zero proof no links and nothing to back up your bs… you offer no proof and are therefor a liar.

Any Democrat? How about Kamala herself. Do you not remember Kamala's "do not come" speech?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpGitFIzamQ

[–] CaliforniaSober@lemmy.ca 2 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago) (1 children)

Do you remember the time she mentioned an immigrant horde coming to eat your dogs and cats?

Remember when as VP she directed ICE to render folks unconstitutionally and under masks?

I don’t cause you’re full of shit

[–] WoodScientist@sh.itjust.works -1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

You're full of shit with your "when she was VP" loaded question.

[–] CaliforniaSober@lemmy.ca 1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

What role does a VP have over ICE?

How is anything I said “loaded”?

[–] WoodScientist@sh.itjust.works -1 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

You're setting up a clearly misleading and manipulative standard so you can play some horseshit "gotcha" based on a technicality. Obviously the VP doesn't control immigration, but who the fuck cares and why would you make that your standard? Kamala was running for president, and she promised to run her administration exactly like Biden's. We have to judge Kamala by Biden's performance, as she promised to continue his policies.

But here you are trying to defend her on a technicality, saying, "nu huh, acktually, she wasn't in charge of immigration, she was only the VP!"

Manipulative petty bullshit. It's transparently bad faith.

[–] CaliforniaSober@lemmy.ca 1 points 6 hours ago

I’m not setting anything up. You’re just clearly not supporting anything. And Biden or Harris’ admin never treated immigrants like this ever.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I have never seen a dem advertisement based on deportation.

Colin Allred made it the center of his Senate campaign against Ted Cruz.

To say “both sides” campaigned on a policy of mass deportation is a straight up lie.

Harris-Walz "Tougher" ad

Bragged about "the toughest border bill in decades" and promised to hire "thousands of new border guards".

[–] CaliforniaSober@lemmy.ca 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

In what world is advocating for border security akin to rendering folks by masked individuals and trafficking them to foreign countries without due process…?

What democrat has ever advocated for ice to do what they’re currently doing?

Pointing to how democrats advocating that strengthening our border doesn’t require kidnapping…

Well you don’t really have a point do you?

[–] zbyte64@awful.systems -1 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

It's like saying the Republicans are right that you should be scared of immigrants and then being surprised when people vote out of fear for the person who will hurt those immigrants more. They didn't campaign on mass deportation as one has claimed, but they did justify people's fears of immigrants.

[–] CaliforniaSober@lemmy.ca 1 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

They don’t campaign on that?

“They’re eating the dogs and your cats…”

“There is a mass horde attacking our border…”

Republicans did. They did more or less make an enemy of immigrants, shape them into an “other” and now we’re starting to see citizens getting treated like immigrants and citizenship being eroded all while you say “well maybe dems don’t literally campaign on X…”

[–] Tja@programming.dev 4 points 19 hours ago

How is more border guards equal to "more deportations"?

[–] DancingBear@midwest.social 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Biden holds the record as vice president for deportations during an administration

[–] CaliforniaSober@lemmy.ca 3 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Merely deporting someone isn’t so terrible an act. Hell Cheech and Chong had a joke about calling immigration on themselves whenever there was a wedding back in Mexico cause it got them a free ride and sandwich.

This shit is different.

[–] WoodScientist@sh.itjust.works -1 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

It's different, but only in terms of vibes.

[–] CaliforniaSober@lemmy.ca 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Operating on “vibes” is you saying you don’t care.

“In terms of vibes” equals “however I feel”… so if you don’t feel like being an adult… then cool no vibes or mojo should make you feel icky…

[–] WoodScientist@sh.itjust.works 0 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

You missed the point. The point is Democrats and Republicans have both been massively against immigration and been pro-deportation. You are confusing vibes for real policy. Republicans and Democrats are both pro-mass deportation. Republicans are just a lot more performatively cruel about it. These are the vibes I'm referring to. People like you confuse vibes for actual policy and convince yourselves that Republicans have massively changed the immigration situation relative to Biden.

[–] CaliforniaSober@lemmy.ca 1 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

I’m thinking back of experiencing decades of democrats in office… democrats have never been against immigrants like you characterize them to be. Tell me how Obama did this. Republicans are no where near current or past democrats no matter how desperate you are to paint them with the same brush. You are painting a false picture.

Reality bears that this shit has never been needed. Democrats have never done what is happening now and you painting it as the same or a matter of “vibes” is white -washing REAL problems.

You have missed the point of history in an effort to make your “vibes” a thing… why are you so desperate to tell everyone that dems did shit they never have, all while republicans are doing that very thing right now?

[–] WoodScientist@sh.itjust.works 0 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Republicans are a lot ruder, cruder, and more lawless about their deportations. They want people afraid while they're conducting their mass deportations. In contrast, Democrats want you to feel they love immigrants...while they conduct the same mass deportations.

It is just a vibes things. The numbers speak for themselves.

[–] CaliforniaSober@lemmy.ca 1 points 6 hours ago

So that’s a picture, not a source… and more importantly are you implying that a green line equals number of masked randos kidnapping people?

Or does that line equal deportations which isn’t necessarily a terrible thing.

Does that green line represent in fact a better policing of the border which was then denied by conservatives in an effort to now kidnap people by masked randos?

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago) (2 children)

I didn't realize that the Vice President was in charge of deportations.... Oh wait.

VP doesn't do shit.

[–] WoodScientist@sh.itjust.works 1 points 7 hours ago

A hypothetical Kamala administration can be seen as a direct continuation of Biden's, as she herself said that she would do nothing different than Biden.

[–] DancingBear@midwest.social 1 points 13 hours ago

well Trump is worried about beating the record according to some
