Release Overview - Stable Versions

Keep in mind that the official changelog website is often behind actual release versions, the website is maintained by marketing people. Also note that not every single change/issue is mentioned in the release notes, because lots of changes are done in the background e.g. filter-list changes etc.

Saw many people giving 'instructions' on how to make Chrome not spy on you.
Why not just use a privacy friendly browser and save all the hassle? I've been using @bravebrowser for years now and I am VERY happy!

I've been waiting for a long time thanks to the developer

Just a reminder that the guy behind @bravebrowser @brave was kicked from Mozilla for being a bigoted piece of shit, and that he continues to be a piece of shit attacking the health care workers who saved millions of lives during the pandemic.

I'm choosing a main browser, and I think that firefox with ublock and brave are probably equally good in terms of privacy and security, both of them look quite nice, and both are FOSS. The final thing that I'm considering is resource consumption. This reddit post shows that firefox is better than brave in benchmarks and ram consumption, but what about when firefox has ublock running and brave has all their preinstalled "extension" like brave rewards and wallet disabled (except brave shields is left enabled)?

As of writing this post, Brave browser version 1.56.9 was recently released, and "Forgetful Browsing" is still only available as an experimental flag.

Also they've just skipped versions directly from 1.52 to 1.56, explained here.

Your thoughts?

Hi,

Today me and other 5 Ubuntu users with similar setup had an issue with brave. It glitches with rendering, completely missing fonts and some ui elements. brave-browser --disable-gpu fixes it.

Anybody else have the issue and possibly a fix without disabling hardware acceleration?

1.52.130 Chromium: 114.0.5735.198 (Official Build) (64-bit)

EDIT:

For future reference here is the fix. I think it's related to new MESA update

rm -rf ~/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/Default/GPUCache and restart brave

I know that in a lot of privacy communities they recommend to use uBlock in addition to Privacy Badger. The reason for this, I believe, is the uBlock functions off of block lists while Privacy Badger functions by recognizing the behavior of trackers. Does Brave Shields only function off of block lists or should I also install privacy badger? Please correct me if I got any of those details wrong.

@bravebrowser Hi,I'm #VisuallyImpaired & use #Voiceover, which is Apple's #Screen-reader. I'm encountering a serious issue with the #iOS version of your app. This affects both the #AppStore & #beta versions. When trying to delete bookmarks, the app immediately crashes. Can you please fix this? This is my favorite browser!

Peter Snyder, senior director of privacy at Brave browser, told Lifewire via email that although Topics is slightly better than FLoC, it certainly doesn't improve privacy.

Well it is better than using PayPal and traditional ads, that is for sure.

I make it brief, the steps are pretty much universal for Firefox, Brave, Windows except that on Linux SNAP packages are not supported, but this is clearly mentioned in KeePassXC and also visible in the first screenshot.

  • Install KeePassXC, on most distros pre-installed.
  • Install the Chrome Extension.
  • Install Brave as AUR package, the -bin release are good enough.
  • 2FA works too, just click on the little bubble icon if you see the 2FA field.

On KeePassXC end we need to enable the integration

The advance options are optional and normally do not need to be touched. It is up to you if you change something here or not but the popups as return checks, that are enabled by default make sense and IMHO you should not suppress them to avoid accidentally overriding something.

On Browser and Extension side

Make sure you connect the database once you are finished, which will show a popup which you need to manually confirm, this is a simple security check.

In case you are on Brave Beta or Nightly and cannot connect your database to the KeePassXC Browser Integration.

  • Copy the file org.keepassxc.keepassxc_browser.json to ~/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser-Nightly/NativeMessagingHosts replace nightly with beta, depending on what you use.
