I dunno, I'm from the really old days of forums where you either had an alt account to moderate with, or where the penalties for harassing a mod over a moderation action was a kos

I kinda feel like it should be the norm for it to be public, but there's a line to be drawn somewhere to disallow endless arguments about it

This is a great post. +1 for potatoes and onions. (Just don't store them together, they spoil each other faster)

One thing I'll add is that if the OP is in the United States, commercially sold eggs have the bloom washed off them before they get to store shelves, so they MUST be refrigerated.

You can get dehydrated egg products that are shelf stable until you use them. They're not perfect but for most purposes they're good enough.

It used to, I believe the option to anonymize the acting moderator was added in at some point

Must be reliving his memories with Epstein

There are some instances that lean in specific directions, but there are also several that are kind of just melting pots. For the most part I don't need to use blocks too frequently, but there are definitely some spaces/users that I find are too hostile that it gets in the way of their intended messaging. But then, that line is going to be different for everybody.

Habits can be built and rebuilt. I've known a disappointing amount of people who refuse to use a calendar for reminders out of pride and end up being all over the place in the end.

The lawsuit in question is a civil matter, not a criminal one, but you are correct that that is the case if a state prosecutor does decide to bring criminal charges

Uh, nope, you're putting words in my mouth. It's not realistic to worry about mitigating that kind of stuff when we can't even prevent ourselves from cooking ourselves, and several of the things you listed don't even have plausible technical solutions right now. Nice try, though.

a planetary catastrophe out of our control

You're still describing climate change. Science fiction ideas are fun to think about but our own inability to live harmoniously with nature is going to kill us off before any of those problems become relevant.

At the very least they need to invest in server side anti cheat. If that's not viable they should be obliged to adequately moderate their game.

If I were to speculate, I'd say it came from the == operator (Boolean equality comparison) and then later, when that was extended to include Boolean less-than-or-equal and greater-than-or-equal, the decision was made to keep them 2 characters long. Either because it was visually cleaner, or just because programmers love being lazy (read: efficient)

If you can't accept business plans that make a little less profit to include sufficient human moderation to avoid heavyhanded kernel level anti cheat - you shouldn't be in the fucking publishing business, you greedy weasels.
