Being overly cautious with things is exactly their job. They deal with checking objective truth. Elon did in fact make this gesture that very closely resembles the Nazi salute is all Snopes should be saying because to say more would be making a logical conclusion but would be beyond a direct description of empirical evidence. Snopes is not intended to be a news source, it should never be giving conclusions. It is intended to be a very trustworthy fact checker.
I thought they were identical written languages but different spoken. Surely if you were learning to read research papers it wouldn't matter.
