  1. Its more that they're returning to the old ways. Unfortunately it was a brief, exclusively western concept that justice was universal.
  2. There is a solution to it. Western Europeans did it before, we can do it again.

Wc2: the Elven Archers would comment "that you don't touch the other elves way."

The .ml situation predates the whole reddit thing, no?

This thread is sad.

As a kid, my parents(read: mostly my mom) would see 400-500 kids over the night. Was really fun, you'd see everyone out having a great time.

In my last place it was mostly childless renters in the neighborhood but we'd still get a good ~100.

  1. Harris wants to increase taxes on the rich. They stand to lose the most to that.
  2. Getting guaranteed government contracts is an insanely profitable gravy train to companies; particularly military spending.
  3. More so if you can actually insert your company into government logistics ( say, space flight, internet/communications and mail? )

Hypothetical crazy talk:

  1. Potentially they want to start being fully dystopian and being their own governments as a way to cement a "legacy".

It should be trivially easy to prove either way.

There will either be records on when it was changed or when it was discovered and fixed.

If there isnt, then it didnt fucking happen and Disney is lying.

Obligatory shoutout to Digital Extremes for their Tennogen program.

For everyone who thinks their vote won't count.

The anti-vaxxer BC Conservative Party, of whom more than half are functionally Qanon fuckwits, came within 18 votes of preventing an NDP(left wing) majority government in British Columbia.

18 votes, in an election of more than 2 million votes. Go and vote.

Come now, modern day American Christianity has nothing in common with the Roman Catholic faith that spawned the Reformation in 1519, where the pope and his cardinals openly sold penances and salvation for money.

Ostensibly this is nothing to do with fascism. It has everything to do with a generational collapse.

In the developed nations(e.g. N.America, Europe, Taiwan, Japan, S.Korea) we are hitting it because the boomers took everything and sacrificed the well-being of GenX-onward to save their own positions without fighting for anything.

In China, the one child policy help avoid a massive youth population that wouldn't have anywhere to fit in(and thus avoid formenting rebellion) but now as its too expensive for Chinese families to have replacement levels of offspring, they're facing a much worse version than we are, they have a huge aging population who are starting to retire and nowhere near enough to replace them.

Investors.

China's entire modern "economic miracle" is founded on housing as an investment vehicle.

You can in part blame Canadian Conservatives in BC, specifically Bill Vanderzam, Christy Clark, Gordon Campbell and Kevin Falcon; as well as federally, Brian Mulroney and Stephen Harper, for importing this behaviour and concept from Asia and its rise here. Initially in the late 1980s and early 1990s it was about attracting the elite of Hong Kong, who were afraid of what the handover of Hong Kong to the CCP would mean. (And rightly so, as it turns out.)

Vancouver BC is infamously unaffordable, and its entirely because of investors, both national and international using its real estate as a ridiculously effective investment vehicle. If you had purchased a home in the suburbs for 500k in 2006, that home would be worth well over 2 to even 3 million dollars today.

When Vancouver started capping out and hitting limits investors moved on to apply the same practices all over the continent.

I love the way Sir Terry Prachett wrote. In my opinion he is easily among the best authors.

But I like finding other authors that I don't know about. This is an issue in fantasy and scifi because there are so many bad ones, or weird ones like Michael Crichton, who penned some fantastic novels, but then went off the deep end and wrote an entire novel about how climate change wasn't real.

As such, a table like this is fantastic.
