It's a good video, the commentary was well thought out. Thank you for posting it

Never go to a place because it's popular, if you wouldn't go there if nobody else was there, you probably won't enjoy it when other people are there.

If you have a deep and strong interest in a place or a thing, it's great to visit no matter what. Low season might be better

a office and guest room, being on the social travel circuit for friends is really good in staying connected, or if we party too hard they can just crash here.

If you have a phone at your house, it's trivial to know who owns the phone.

That sounds really cool. Using the radars as network extenders is smart.

The combinator groups are really powerful, I'm just starting to use them, I wish you could programmatically add items to them.

I'd love to see your setup, if you want to share.

Oh! You need the engine if you want to read the contents of the train car through the train station. The engine is mandatory, and it must be docked the station.

100%. Be dynamic, not static. A standing desk can help being dynamic!

Don't worry, you absolutely don't need any circuitry, it's just being used to save floor space, you can still a perfectly good ship without them.

I suspect most players never touch the circuits.

I respect your sense of morality, but it is not universal. Your downvoting me, which is just petty, speaks to your actual sense of morality.

the bioavailability of nutrition and protein is outstandingly better from natural animal sources.

Live your life any way you like, try to make my people unhealthy and you will find resistance.

Like I said, I'm happy for you to eat in any way which you feel comfortable, just don't remove the options from others.

Yes, and No. Any storage container will work, the train is nice and big so its good for a do-everything build; Other good options are the cargo landing pads, and the SpaceShip hubs.

If I can get the circuits smaller, I think this would be awesome, right now its a huge rats nest on the ship.

If freezing salt water produces freshwater ice, why is desalinization such a difficult problem?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2wafIzuvlI

I was watching the above minute physics video, and they indicated in a brief one sentence line that saltwater freezes into freshwater ice. That got me thinking.

Under what circumstances could you actually freeze salt into ice? To make salt ice?

The game got a lot of hate online, but I've generally found when a game is hated on, there's usually something more. So I decided to actually play the game. I'm 5 hours in

Honestly I like it, for telltale like walking simulator, it sets up the story pretty well, it has some nice sci-fi beats. It's good for what it is. It isn't anything it promises not to be. I think it's a good game, I'd recommend waiting until it goes on sale for $10 maybe. At that price point it's about the cost of a movie and That's where I put it in terms of value pricing.

Some communities, like fark, let you annotate users that you interact with so that when you interact with them in the future have an idea about the previous context with them.

I think that would be a good feature for lemmy, able to add a note/nick name that displays any time you see a comment or post by that user

The astronauts on the ISS that are stuck and can't parachute back to Earth... but why not?

The highest jump I could find was 39km (Stratos jump)

Is it the height from the planet? The speed of the ISS? If we wanted to design ISS escape pods, what would be required?

https://iceandfire.fandom.com/wiki/Shae

Doing a rewatch of game of thrones, first time, and I'm thinking about Shae's arc.

She starts as a camp follower for a Lannister knight, gets poached into the service of Tyrion, follows him into the capital. Becomes a persistent force in his life, wont leave the city despite multiple threats on her life... Eventually Tyrion forces her onto a boat to flee the capital... and she "somehow" returns for Tyrion's regicide trial, only to end up in the bed of Tyrion's father... When Tyrian finds her there, she attempts to kill him.

This is my understanding of her Arc, and I'm confused by her motivations.

  1. Why did she come back to the capital despite being safely away?
  2. Why try to kill Tyrion when discovered in his father's bed?
  3. If her motivation was just money, why not take the nice retirement offered to her three times?
  4. If she loved Tyrion, why try to kill him at all, why come back to the capital and appear in his trial?

I know the official client isn't done, but are people finding success with the unofficial clients? Any good experiences?

Just started the 2018 Lost in space series, which has 3 seasons, and 28 episodes.

The original 1965 series also had 3 seasons, but 83 total episodes.

The cinematics are really good so far two episodes in

If you find yourself having to block a user, there should be an option to block all the communities they can moderate as well.

Not a big issue, just a quality of life item

I watched the first season of Colony, and I really enjoyed it. The premise is good, they don't rely on mystery boxes, motivations feel fleshed out. 10 Episode season, i recommend it.

The premise is Aliens have colonized and oppressed earth we only learn enough about them at any time to motivate the actions of our human collaborators.
