Fun fact: Redbox is operated by Chicken Soup for the Soul. I almost got hired by them but they screwed me over after I had already resigned from my previous position.

For whole blood, I've only ever been given a t-shirt. For plasma alone though, it was purely dependent on your weight and, therefore, how much they can take from you in the one session. I'm a tiny dude who barely weighed enough to qualify and got about $80 a couple years ago. It's honestly not worth it at all, but if you're broke it's easier than many other options. The place was full of the "undesirables" of society because of that. It drained me emotionally, seeing how blatantly exploitative it is.

Edit to add: these plasma donations can be done with a tighter window between them too, so the people who were always short on cash were in there every 2 weeks.

Edit again: I forgot that that was an introductory deal where they give you an extra $40, so it was actually $40 for me. Overweight patients could get around $70-$80.

Surely this decision will be a net positive for the average American and won't be used as part of a malicious scheme to widen the wealth gap. /s

You joke, but the people here are such zealots that they would make the church the state if given the opportunity. Yet they're such hypocrites they'd all be in line for a stoning if they did.

This game, appropriately, is where I learned there was such a thing as uppers and downers.

Charlotte, NC has a long history of racism and played a huge role in the civil rights movement, so the location plays a large part in why this is such a big deal.

This honestly sounds like it could be the basis for a novella

Damn, TIL you can come across these locations on accident just exploring. I thought that place was weird to be randomly floating out there with no real good loot. 😂

I'm replaying Starfield, and on my second playthrough, I'm noticing the depth they put into this game. Sometimes a single dialogue line you said days ago will have an effect on NPC attitudes through an entire side story. I'm not going to argue that it's not a regurgitation of their lame formula they've milked for the past 15+ years, but they do need to reevaluate where their money/dev time goes to.

This was my strategy every time. It never worked out great, because there's usually a reason people don't want to be paired up with whoever you end up with.

Yeah, I don't know if they were concerned about people thinking they were being berated by animals constantly or what, but New Leafe was definitely the beginning of them sanitizing the villagers' attitudes. Wild World was my first AC game and I played it constantly for at least a year, but New Horizons lost my attention after two weeks.

I hate how empty and lifeless they made the villagers in the latest one.
