I'm planning on using Zotify to download a couple playlists of music I've added over the years. Before I do that, I'd like to be able to make a copy of the playlists before downloading any music in the off chance my account gets flagged by Spotify.

I would like the playlists be ready to use with other services or music seeking apps like deezer or soulseek. I've tried searching but a lot of results bring up sketchy websites that ask for your Spotify account login and I'm cautious of that.

I'm just doing this as a an extra backup step and hopefully things go smoothly with Zotify.

I asked a similar question and I was lead to this post.

I got side tracked and eventually lost motivation to get it working. I might give it another try in the new year. Hopefully this is what you are looking for. I assume your distribution is using PipeWire, otherwise you may have to look into HRIR for PulseAudio.

I've been running into issues with trying to post the log file data. There's something in there that causes the reply button to hang indefinitely.

This is the log file with the Config USB plugged in. This is the config settings I used.

For reference, This is the log file of the installation without the Config USB.

I ended up getting fired for calling out all the sexism, racism, homophobia, favourtism and abusive managers. The then new covid policies ramped up everyone's negative traits and I couldn't ignore it any more.

I ended up speaking with the corporate HR about the situation and they made an honest effort to help me but I was fired before I got a chance to speak with a very high up person.

I got a lawyer involved and while not much difference was made after the settlement, I somehow forced the HR manager into early retirement. It amazes me considering my goal was only to get her into a work behavior training course. I never knew such pettiness could accomplish so much.

All my co-workers shat all over my efforts for the 10 months I was engaged with all of that at the workplace. Also received a fair amount of hate from my co-workers after I got fired too which was neat.

I got the information by connecting to http://homeassistant.local:8123/

I get the following screen:

I put the log file here since it comes out as a long run on sentence in lemmy.

I have another SD card with a functioning version of HA OS that's currently controlling my lights and switches. I don't remember how I got the internet working with it but I can still connect to http://homeassistant.local:8123/ as well as directly through the wired IP address so I don't believe the port is damaged. Unfortunately I can't update it because I get an error about no internet connection. I can still add add-ons and such so It's a bit confusing to me.

I only have a laptop computer so I don't actually own a keyboard. I don't know anyone nearby who I could borrow one from either.

I created the USB drive in Linux, as well as the file and assumed it was okay.

I did this: aa@DellG5:/media/aa/CONFIG/network$ file my-network my-network: ASCII text

I'm not sure if that helps, I just checked from here.

From the installation log, I get the follow message:

[supervisor.host.network] Requested to update interface end0 which does not exist or is disabled.

I've tried creating a CONFIG usb drive following the information here. Even with the appropriate wired connection config file I still get the same message.

I don't have a spare keyboard so I wouldn't be able to use the CLI to enable the ethernet. At this point I am not sure how else to approach this problem.

The actual router rented out by the service provider. I don't think they would be happy with me messing with their property.

I also lived somewhere else where I didn't have access to the main router so I use the extender as my personal network for file transfers, a few lights with a couple switches and my terrarium thermostat. If anything happens to the main router, I can just turn my extender into an access point and still have my personal network.

TP-Link requires an account to use my own extender which annoys me. Their app redirects my connection to my extender through their cloud service. It's not my VPN because I can still connect through the browser. Seems shadey and I don't like having the account already.

Unfortunately I feel this conversation has become deadlocked for a number of reasons.

You have clearly dismissed a fellow person with a valid observation and left no room for open discussion. When given the opportunity to express why you do not agree, you continue to be dismissive.

You have ignored the topics that has been brought up and are being discussed. In this case emotional intelligence, particularly among men.

You have not made an attempt to clearly connect your various points into a cohesive argument.

You have not expressed what you have studied in your own words. To express ideas in your own words would show the rest of us how you perceive and understand a topic. This would be a great base for having a meaningful conversation.

Lastly, you have done nothing but blindly praise an individual on a podcast. If the words in your initial post are true, we should never worship anyone.

Taking a step back away from everyone and everything to think of why we react to other peoples words may help us to understand ourselves better. And that's a good thing.

At this point I am done. As a fellow individual with ADHD (and Autism), I wish you the best on your mental health journey and I hope you approach it with an open heart and open mind. Thank you for giving me a new perspective for me to think about and hopefully understand in the future.

[–] alwaysconfused@lemmy.ca 0 points 11 months ago (3 children)

In order to engage you in meaningful discussion, I need to understand your thoughts and perspectives more from your own words.

Why do you not trust the personal view of another lemmy user? We are on a social platform made for discussing a variety of topics and we will always encounter different views. Hopefully this leads to exploring and expanding our own views on the topics we bring up.

I would also like to stay on the topic of men and emotional intelligence which was brought up by LoreleiSankTheShip. I currently do not see how neurodivergence and generational workforces fit into this discussion unless you can clearly state the connections for me.

I do agree with you that the importance of mental health and it's approaches are not very well explained. However, empathy carries a lot of weight in the discussion of mental health and should not be undermined or under valued.

Lastly, it's easy to link a video of an expert, but experts are human and can fall for personal biases too. If you can explain to me your interpretation of what this expert is saying, we can begin to have a thorough discussion. Otherwise, I fear we may be deadlocked and nothing more will come of this.

I did watch your recommended clip and am still struggling to understand your view point.

People in general can learn something from stoicism. From a philosophical standpoint it can be a good place to provide tools for improving yourself from within. However, I also find it hard to accept that men are inherently emotionally weaker than women for many of the reasons mentioned by LoreleiSankTheShip.

Modern societies extert incredible pressure on people to conform to unreasonable expectations which greatly repress individuality. These pressures start early and are persistent. Emotionally intelligent men exist and have always existed. I could easily believe many of these men couldn't even begin to define or explain stoicism. Their emotional intelligence could have been learned from family, friends, partners or community.

A broad and over generalized expectation of modern men are that they be strong and courageous. That they act as independent individuals to care for their family or community. Traits which could be mistaken for a surface level of stoicism.

What we are seeing today in is very much a lack of emotional intelligence. There is a very noticeable deficiency in emotional intelligence in men when compared to women. Unable to reflect inwards about their motivations and outward actions. Unable to empathetically understand how their actions affect those around them. Unable to to identity, verbalize or express the emotions which are happening within them. As a result, men don't have the proper understanding of themselves to begin the process of improving themselves. Trans men offer a unique insight into this as they have had the opportunity to experience two worlds of gender expectations.

But humans are social animals. Many mammals exhibit social needs. We can look to our closest friends such as cats and dogs and see how true that is. We've reached a point where our social communities are fragmented and broken. The ideal of a strong man is heavily expected to replace that missing sense of community.

It's become and issue so deep and entangled that it's hard to know where to even begin. I wish there was a simple -ism to unravel this mess but a person is complex. Eight billion people with eight billion unique perspectives is a level of complexity we just don't know how to even comprehend or manage.

We can start by teaching emotional understanding from within, by being good examples, by creating and maintaining communities or by calling out bad behavior. Unfortunately, these actions can be attacked. It's an uphill battle and the hill is looking very steep.

The indigenous people of Australia used fire is a part of their land management. It helped clear the land and managed land between crops, regrowth and wild animal populations. Also, some seed pods require fire in order to open thier pods. Otherwise the seeds won't be released. I had the opportunity to live in Australia for two years and got to learn about some of this.

This video nicely illustrates what has been learned about pre-colonial land management by the indigenous people.

To me, it appears they had a deep understanding of the land. Something that had been developed through careful observation and passed down through traditional knowledge. Knowledge that had been disrupted and destroyed. Leaving behind so many broken people.

It deeply saddens me to know that such intimate knowledge of the land had been destroyed. It makes me wonder just how much local knowledge has really been destroyed through colonialism or other expansive and destructive forces.

Even with all that said, we today can still learn from these people. We can still learn from the land around us. We can draw inspiration from all this in order to build a sustainable future. We can start building our own knowledge again to pass down to our future. It doesn't have to involve raking our leaves and shipping it somewhere else that's out or sight and out of mind.

My hate for mowing and raking runs pretty deep.

I don't believe I was advocating for everyone to grow a forest on their property.

Personally, I'd love nothing more to have a forest garden in my backyard since it's been brought up.

My current setup is a TP-Link wireless extender. From that I have my own little network that connects my computer, wireless devices and a Raspberry Pi 4. The RPi4 runs the Home Assistant OS for my small network of lights and switches. The TP-Link extender does not have enough memory to support OpenWRT which means I am dependent on the proprietary android app to configure it.

I thought I could use the integrations in HA to add OpenWRT and Pi-Hole but it looks like those integrations are for communicating with instances and devices not within the HA operating system.

What I was hoping to accomplish was to run HA, OpenWRT and Pi-Hole on the same RPi4 device and re-use the TP-Link extender elsewhere in the house to serve ad-blocked internet that extends beyond my little network of devices.

Would running multiple services like this be too demanding for the RPi4? And if it is possible, where is a good place to start?

I'm in the beginning stages of planning a trip this winter to see the northern lights. The days are getting real short and I'd love to take advantage of that.

I'm currently in southern Ontario and would like to head north a bit to get away from all the light pollution. I'll also be travelling alone so heading off to a park is probably not a wise decision for myself. Also, since I'm going alone, I'd prefer staying at a hostel where I have a chance to meet people but that's not a strict requirement. I know hostels are not a big thing here.

Any information, tips or experiences to share would be greatly appreciated.

My laptop seems very finicky with linux and enjoys periodically freezing. Some distributions are more stable than others and I'd like to keep testing other distributions without reinstalling/ downloading/transferring all my apps and steam games constantly.

What I would like to achieve is to have my small handful of flatpak apps and flatpak steam games on a separate partition to quickly access while I test and troubleshoot issues.

Is that possible to do with flatpaks?

I'd like to change my distribution but when I attempt to create a backup through steam, it just creates an empty folder with the game's name.

I'm assuming this is because how flatpak contains the app.

How can I make a backup of my games so I don't have to redownload everything again?

I'm currently running Linux without updates for a couple weeks now so I can continue to play. However, Any update I install causes any game to stay stuck on the integrated GPU instead of switching to the dedicated GPU. Some games will just close while others will run but it's super slow and choppy.

I've tried running steam with the dedicated GPU option but that causes steam to launch, attempt to open the library window several times before the system freezes for a moment. After the system unfreezes, I can move the mouse but nothing on the desktop is responsive.

I also get the freezing issue without running with the dedicated GPU when I launch steam but found that launching directly to the steam settings window from the menu reduces the chances of freezing.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've recently switched from windows to Linux Mint after learning about how much support steam has put into Linux gaming. I've found my way around packages and alternatives to set myself up similar to my windows experience except for 7.1 surround sound that Razer offered for my 3.5mm connection headphones.

From what I understand, PulseAudio has a module that can be added to simulate surround sound.

The documentation also says to select an audio file that sounds best to me but I have no idea what to do with it, and no idea where to place that HRIR.wave file.

I've only used Ubuntu very casually in the past so this is slightly above what I understand. My experience using with using a terminal is limited to super basic things and deleting apps on my android phone from PowerShell in windows so I only really half get what I'm supposed to do at the moment. Any help would be appreciated.

I have no idea what they are but I'm just excited to see mushrooms growing in my garden over the past couple days. It pleases me to know my soil is happy and healthy.

This is my first garden and I've decided to use clover as ground cover. It'll take a couple years to determine if it does what I hope it will accomplish. So far I'm quite happy with how things are turning out and am learning so much.

I'm currently and impatiently waiting to try the first cherry tomatoes but the first bunch should be ripe within the next week.
