There is no backdoor. We do not have the export variant of the F35 with US-controlled software. The software on our F35s (and Trident missiles) is British. This came as the result of concerns New Labour had about the very thing you mention - US backdoors.

And I agree that the US cannot be trusted. Thankfully our sixth gen fighters have no US ties, and most of our other recent military developments aren't either. For the time being, though, we can't really abruptly scrap trident or F35s, despite maintenance not being 100% done here (particularly for Trident). Our missiles only need maintenance every 10 years - I'd hope we have facilities to do that domestically by then.

Ok so you think that the old 4" screen phones should actually have been sub 2". That seems excessively small to me.

There's a disproportionately high amount of old people in that area - a demographic probably less likely to care about a gaming preservation petition.

First I've even heard of it, damn, I'd have totally signed.

MP pay is such a red herring.

Yes, their pay is a lot compared to, say, minimum wage, but a low MP pay even further encourages only wealthy people to become MPs.

I'd much rather see MP salary significantly increased, but expenses capped and put under a much greater level of scrutiny.

Easy thing to say when you're not the one donating your time for free.

I love what Valve is doing for Linux, but longer term, the onus is on them to solve the 32-bit compatibility layer issue (a-la Proton for win-to-linux, as well as their upcoming x86-to-ARM layer).

Expecting all distros (who again, are staffed mostly by volunteers) to do this work separately (i.e. duplicating all that work), for all time, is a big ask.

They're also comparing total appointment numbers from a time period where there was a lot of Nurse/doctor strike action against a time period where strikes had stopped and NHS staff were working through a backlog.

It seems insane to measure air pollution by this metric rather than, you know, actually looking at air pollution levels.

"There is no such thing as safe strangulation; women cannot consent to the long-term harm it can cause

What? Of course women can consent. Women aren't bumbling morons who don't understand anything, ffs

There is of course the risk of injury when you engage in BDSM. It's not for everyone, and if people do it they need to be cautious, they need to consent, and they need to be aware of the risks.

But this idea that women specifically are unable to consent is bullshit. Women also drink alcohol, smoke, take drugs, drive cars, give birth, engage in sports, etc – all of which also present danger, should these also be ruled as things women don't have the mental capacity to consent to?

I absolutely hate that "women are too stupid/infantile to know what they're doing, they're delicate flowers that need constant protection" is presented as a feminist position now.

Women being treated like they're children is the exact kind of thing the Suffragette movement rallied against, and now it's people who call themselves feminists advocating for this nonsense.

That's not even the full extent of his homophobia. He also made donations to a politician who said that AIDS is a great thing and will purge the world of gay people.

He also gave an interview about the whole being pressured to leave Mozilla thing, and said he was disappointed in how intolerant of his beliefs Mozilla staff were once they became public knowledge.

Yes, you read that right, a man who wanted to strip gay people of their rights cried about fucking intolerance towards him. Clown.

Arguably. Or it's just what the dev team was used to. Or a bunch of other explanations.

I just don't find "a historic Germanic group of settlers that immigrated to medieval Britain are purposely neglecting unicode support as a means to suppress people that aren't part of their group."

Going through their post history, they seem obsessed with the "Anglo Saxons".

Just a bizarre conspiracy theory from a one day old account that's also advocating for genociding everyone in the middle east lol

To be fair, the term "AI" has always been used in an extremely vague way.

NPCs in video games, chess computers, or other such tech are not sentient and do not have general intelligence, yet we've been referring to those as "AI" for decades without anybody taking an issue with it.

No they are not.
