Yea! So cool!! Do you think drone shows will eventually replace fireworks?

[–] RoyalEngineering@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

Yeah me too. I tried searching around but it's hard to find something that's not sci-fi related about this topic. It might also be called "kledging" from what I read, but not sure if that's the exact same thing.

Got it and it’s fun. Sometimes the controls are wonky but it’s pretty good.

Yes, of course.

must pass a basic background check.

Swiss

We are not really European though.

Yes agreed 10000%. S1 Picard was so confusing to me because of what you said. Did nobody in the writers room watch that episode of TNG?? There’s a few more too!!

“The Most Toys” asserts Data’s humanity over and over again. That episode with the Exocomps talks about tech sentience thru evolution and the effect on self preservation. That other episode about terraforming and finding the inorganic life forms. So many to choose from!

First 30 seconds of Picard: “These damn dirty robot slaves are so whiny and cranky!”

Me: 🤦

Hm, not sure what you mean.

Are there android slaves in voyager?

[–] RoyalEngineering@lemmy.world 19 points 3 months ago (5 children)

Android slaves in Picard conflicts with TNG canon.

Trapped tardigrades for propulsion in Disco conflicts with Voyager canon.

Those are my complaints.

Yeah not to be obtuse here, but I think the fear is over sensationalized. I haven’t seen it in person, but it seems like this is a totally new product that is similar to idea of browser history, but adds in some modern features. I would like to check it out.

on-by-default

That’s not correct. Based on the documentation, Windows Setup has an option to enable/disable the feature on first boot.

The documentation also says it doesn’t capture incognito windows and I mentioned in my other comment that you can turn it off temporarily and permanently. It doesn’t run all the time no matter what, like some of the comments have suggested.

Here’s a screenshot of the config page with a simple toggle to turn off:

I keep hearing all the rabble rousing about this from a security perspective, but is there not an incognito mode to the Recall capability?

[–] RoyalEngineering@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago

Yeah definitely not ideal. I wish it was clean with 0 ads.

Saw this lil guy on the ads on the in-room TV that Boimler stays in.

I don’t understand how this port is going to connect with a cable. I want to see this in person but it looks cool in the ad

I had a friend who had an aluminum MacBook Pro around the late 2000s.

I was really jealous of him because his laptop had a full keyboard with a 10 key numpad at the right.

I am trying to find it now, but my Google-Fu is failing me. Too many results for external keyboards.

Can anyone locate a photo or number of the model that I'm looking for?

EDIT: Apparently it doesn't exist. Thanks everyone!

(me currently trying to think what other laptop it must have been...)

Have you played any single player board games that you would recommend?

I’m looking to get a few games to play when everyone is out of the house and I don’t want to turn on the game box.

I’ve played Bargain Basement Bathysphere and March of the Ants. Looking for more!

I signed up and played 76 after the first release—you know, the one with only like 3 humans.

It was my favorite experience. Empty, beautiful, peaceful and very exciting. The ambient music is my favorite of the whole series and it really set the tone.

I liked the feeling that you and a few other people online were the only real human survivors and the bots and mutants were the only things left in the world.

That changed after people complained… I quit after some changes were made. I logged in recently and now it’s full of generic NPCs and bullet sponge enemies. Not for me anymore.

I guess I’ll never be able to go back to that feeling right after release. It really was something else.

Anybody else play the game right after it was released?

WOO Severance is addictive. I just watched the first season for a second time and I am JAZZED for the next season.

I'm only a few episodes into the first season, but it has great special effects and I'm really getting into the story. A few times, the news cutaways of Nixon/JFK look/sound a bit weird, but overall it's very convincing.

Just got to the episode with Wernher in court and it was TENSE.

Does it stay good throughout the 3 seasons? Worth watching the whole thing?
