I am making a time-trial race timer so my club can keep track of their practice times. Someone has to manually do it, taking them out of havinga yarn; and for online tournaments usually someone smashes their best time without it being recorded so doesn’t count.

There’s

  • an esp32 powered LIDAR “gate” to start/stop a lap
  • an esp32 powering a display (giant 7 segment display made out of neopixels)
  • a raspberry pi that acts as an mqtt broker, and relay to the internet
  • a website to track and manage all the times

When motivation strikes I’m planning on adding:

  • a camera system to the Pi to record and evidence times
  • a RFID system to track riders and vehicles, so it can be fully automated.

Caveat: I’ve never been to wanaka.

But McDonalds can make restaurants in the middle of many old European cities look “in place”, surely they can do Wanaka?

It’s obviously enough of a thing to warrant Google to crack down on it in both chrome and YouTube.

If it’s such a small problem, why spend the effort?

Took me a while to realise that it was talking about the non-police role-playing as police.

Not police role-playing sexual scenarios, like it’s some regular daily part of their job.

Weird. I’ve been thinking a lot about my aphantasia recently.

The closest I can describe what I imagined, was the feeling that those things happened.

For example. That vibe you get when you feel someone is just behind you. You can’t see them, but you know it. If I imagine someone behind me, I get the same uncomfortable feeling and an urge to look behind me.

Yay!

Does NZ count as Australia too? Or are we stuck with parallel importers, or picking one up on holiday?

We said the same thing about corks.

NZ (and Australia?) doesn’t really do corks any more. For sparkling wines, yes. But I’ve not touched my bottle opener in years.

We also sell (some?) wines in PET bottles, but they’re usually single serve/hotel-minibar bottles so not mainstream.

If there’s a cost incentive to the winery, and no impact of quality to their product, I think they’ll slowly push for a change.

But first, they’ve got to ascertain it won’t affect the product.

Sony Bravia, not connected to any network, running in Pro Mode so it’s “just a TV”

Then a PC running plex and the arrs to substitute the streaming services.

If they know we have savings. They’ll just increase prices again to take them.
