I watched it all go down too. I even read reason and thought it was reasonable. I would even use cato as a reference.

After the bail outs I was sick of the political status quo too so I started doing my own research and reading. That’s when I found the Libertarian party of US.

That year Gary Johnson was running and there was a lot of debate about open borders, pro-choice, and Just general libertarian ideology. So i soaked it all in.

Then I came across Oscar Wilde’s soul of man under socialism which really opened my eyes to post scarcity life. I was shocked to realize that capitalism wasn’t freedom at all. That we are all lied to think this is how it’s supposed to be. The word libertarian means something completely different elsewhere in the world.

That’s when everything that I thought was libertarian started to become what it is now, cesspool of hate.

I mean conservatives have always been masquerading as (L)ibertarians since 1971 here in the US.

Just a sign that they are easily manipulated

Actual libertarianism is open border like you know people who want to do business here have every right to, and for those “illegals” that commit crimes you have the guns.

Fake libertarianism think it should be controlled…. Wait, by what government? xenophobic much?

It feels like I’ve been here forever but I’ve only been a part of Lemmy for less than 18 months.

I was on twitter since 2007 and hardly posted shit (400 posts in almost 20 fucking years), but when I switched to mastodon I felt like I had been there forever. 400 posts in less than a year.

I am really glad to see the communities thriving.

Yea the issue is the employer doing it to make more profit instead of spreading the more profit they make to the workers. There is nothing wrong with self check out. There is something wrong with people being paid shit when the company is sending dividends to stockholders instead.

Dang, that sucks.

I lived in conservative California and we know my spouse’s veteran identifiers were the only reason we didn’t get hassled. Then we went back in a rental car and we were harassed by a small dick truck. This was in 2021.

Thank god we live in the Bay Area now, masking is still common and I see it all the time.

I don’t understand what the fucking big deal is.

Oh right, your freedumbs

This is someone defending musk. They probably have no idea

That’s why it logically doesn’t make sense

Everyone deserves respect.

Respect is in fact, not earned.

One loses respect due to their behavior.

This had nothing to do with what the union wants, the previous poster was asking if they have been doing it wrong

It’s their choice so there is no right or wrong

Anyone else cope with their mental health by joking about it?

My childhood was so absurd I just can't be serious about it.

I take so many meds when my pharmacist asked me why I take two meds that do the same thing I told him that "that's just how much my brain is ~~f***ed ~~ messed up". He didn't appreciate it.

my spouse tells me that people usually don't like it when you do that and that's why I have trouble making friends.

Can anyone relate?
