Indiana has no emissions standards.

Guess what I see all the fucking time?

Guess what I see all the fucking time?

Okay, wild guess: pornography?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 25 points 2 months ago (3 children)

I mean... that too, but that has nothing to do with vehicle emission standards.

[–] holycrap@lemm.ee 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] madjo@feddit.nl 8 points 2 months ago

Don't fuck a car's tailpipe. Or at least wait until it's cooled off.

[–] TheBat@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Then which emissions are we talking about 🫣

[–] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Yeah but it skewed my wife’s emission standards she sets on me.

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

No we're talking about a different kind of emissions

[–] Frog@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

barely matters. These assholes would just remove the filter after the test anyway. Texan here.

[–] D1G17AL@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm not usually one to call for "nanny" laws or regulations but those types of situations are just the perfect excuse for having filters trapped in a captive device that can only be opened by licensed mechanics. Sure there would likely end up being a grey or black market of third party workaround devices. It happens in any situation with regulations. Its just ridiculous that the knuckleheads are able to make and keep enough money to spend on some of the more ridiculous clown monster trucks on public roads.

[–] MouseKeyboard@ttrpg.network 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm not sure how you plan to do that in a way that can't be defeated by an angle grinder.

Cars with emissions?

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 33 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Ermagaherd*, why is fuel so expensive?! Stupid dems, I have to feed my 8 foot per gallon brodozer!

*spelling appropriately changed

[–] dejected_warp_core@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Modern conservatism in a nutshell:

Everything was just fine yesterday. What did you guys do to screw it up for me?!

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 months ago

That, combined with the need for simple answers to extremely complex problems..

[–] peopleproblems@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago

I can smell it through the picture

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I wonder how the one-time burst release of carbon from hitting one of these odious things with a fucking bazooka would compare to the prevented lifetime emissions

[–] HappycamperNZ@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

The vehicle will have to be disposed of at the end of its lifetime anyway.

What it will affect is the reduced carbon from a shorter use time, and kill the oxygen waster inside. Overall a net positive.

[–] Subtracty@lemmy.world 49 points 2 months ago (4 children)

Who is starting this weather machine bullshit and why are some of my family members believing this? Why is it so hard for people to identify when they are being lied to?

[–] frezik@midwest.social 37 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

It popped up during the Obama era with HAARP, a scientific research station in Alaska that monitors the ionosphere. Wingnuts claimed it was a weather control machine; they claimed the increase in disastrous weather wasn't because of global warming, but because HAARP was causing storms so Democrats could take over and institute Full Communism.

It disappeared from the right wing zeitgeist for a while, but recently got revived by Marjorie Taylor-Greene. Anything to pretend their own actions aren't at fault.

[–] Metz@lemmy.world 22 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I just want to add that the HAARP conspiracy theories are way older. i read about it mid of the 90s. Already back then it was a weather control machine / earthquake generator / mind control device / magnetic pole flipper.

[–] aniki@lemmings.world 4 points 2 months ago

Pretty sure Mulder makes a joke about it in X-Files.

[–] D1G17AL@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I also remember seeing a scene in a science fiction movie that had an apparent HAARP facility firing some weird laser system and having it actually do some type of weather or space manipulation. So it's been in the public eye for a long time as some major conspiracy theory. I just wish I could remember what the movie was.

Probably the government to redirect attention somewhere else

[–] abbadon420@lemm.ee 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

...a government... It's not your government that benefits from domestic chaos

[–] index@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 months ago

It's not domestic chaos if the government controls the narrative

[–] Naura@startrek.website 1 points 2 months ago

It’s GDI propaganda!!! Weather storm machines exist

  • NOD conspiracy believer probably
[–] Godort@lemm.ee 43 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Is that an offshore oil rig that's on fire?

If so, they're not entirely wrong

[–] makyo@lemmy.world 78 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I mean, if that’s is the joke, you’re not entirely wrong.

[–] Speculater@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Right, but I think they're saying the joke was that.

[–] Player2@lemm.ee 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I think that if that truly is the joke, then you're not entirely wrong here

[–] jaybone@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Wait, what’s the joke again?

[–] brrt@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 months ago

That which may be an indication of OP not being entirely wrong.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago

This statement contains elements that are factual.

[–] RagingRobot@lemmy.world 40 points 2 months ago

"Humans can control the weather but also definitely didn't cause climate change" haha

[–] pachrist@lemmy.world 30 points 2 months ago

Can't be a coincidence that these oil rigs are in the Gulf of MEXICO, creating storms to illegally cross our borders.

Or...

Dems are trying to assassinate TRUMP again with this sad, pitiful storm. Never seen one more pitiful. Mar a Lago is great. Really great. Trump will ride out this hurricane. Never fear.

[–] infinitevalence@discuss.online 27 points 2 months ago (1 children)

OMG MGT was right, look at the research there is so much proof but they won't tell us! Can you believe that mainstream media has been lying about all these weather controlling machines and that they are killing us!

[–] InputZero@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Did you know that these weather controlling machines make something called petrollium and that is what controls the weather? Democrats can buy it at any corner store really. The Democrats use it to power their cars when they're not using their own farts and for pretty much everything else really. One way possible to at least slow down how much petrollium Democrats use and stop their control of the weather is to put a tax on it, or maybe stop selling it? If someone told MTG she was right think she would help shut these weather controlling machines down?

[–] infinitevalence@discuss.online 1 points 2 months ago

Do you think that could work? What about forcing all the democrats to switch over to something like Prius or Tesla's that can run on their own smug attitudes?

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

🚨☠️🚨WARNING! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!🚨☠️🚨They say I'm a conspiracy theorist but what they won't tell you is these machines are just larger versions of stuff we use everyday. Your car; your oven/stove; your lawn mower; the list goes on.

If that doesn't frighten you get this; the government has released data showing that the clean air you breathe changes inside of your body so that when you breath out it is getting used to alter the climate.

I HAVE THE PROOF!!!!! IM IN DEEP HIDING SO THEY WONT FIND ME!!!! I WILL KEEP SPEAKING OUT UNTIL EVERYONE KNOWS THE TRUTH!!!!!

FUCK YOU OPEC!!!!!! I KNOW WHAT YOU DID!!!!

[–] crimsoncobalt@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

It's a conspiracy!

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It was me. Every day of the past summer, I turned on my AC, opened all the windows, and ran every appliance at full tilt. Sorry, I just want to watch the world burn.

(shut up, it's a joke)

[–] ZoopZeZoop@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

How much was your hypothetical electric/gas bill?

[–] SquirtleHermit@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Enough to break the ice

[–] saltesc@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

And dolphins don't count! Or any sea creature in the Gulf of Mexico while we're at it.
