Apple asks users to install GNU+Linux in this Vision Pro ad:

Ubuntu: For shilling all kinds of profrietary garbage by default. If I wanted that I'd be on Windows.

Also the changes they make to GNOME make it worse, they take away what makes it good, the flow.

OpenSUSE, awfull default software selection on desktop, and pushing users hard to use an "everything configuration tool".

You are right except: there are no rules in english, and this isn't an argument, its a joke.

They only (probably) show us that we are seeing the begining of the file. Also relative line numbing is a thing in vim for example.

I'm sure that's the case, but the meme is not making fun of typescript, its making fun of his dad: JavaScript, maybe for not comparing to his son: typescript

Aren't these metrics fake anyway, Linux user dont usually want software to track them, who's counting everyone and with what as a data source. There is no fair collection point, the best data collection point in my mind would be UA stings on ad networks, but then the metric is users who dont use an add blocker, or users who use facebook. These factors atleast, are certainly not independent of a users choice of operating system. I believe that gnu+linux users are likely to be very underrepresented.

GNU/Linux: software center; install

Android/Linux: system app store; install

Windows/NTOS: web browser; maybe verify website url?, download, open, run as administrator, next, next, next, next, next, next, next, next, next, next, next, next, next, next, finish!

  • Engineer: No problem, we can fix this on the terminal
  • Designer: Woah, you're a hacker!
  • Engineer: No, it's just the terminal.
  • Designer: Where are all the buttons, icons, and dropdown menus?
  • Designer: Is this the matrix?
  • Engineer: Yes.

[joe@fedora ~]$ echo echo echo echo
echo echo echo
[joe@fedora ~]$ cat speak
Meow meau miaw meooou!
[joe@fedora ~]$ source code
print('Hello World!')
[joe@fedora ~]$ cd rom
[joe@fedora rom]$
  • echo: repeats you, it repeated "echo echo echo"
  • cat: displays the content of a file if given, the content of the file "speak" was "Meow meau miaw meooou!"
  • cd: I changed the directory my shell is working in to a directory called rom
  • source: runs the commands in the specified file in your shell the command in the file "code" was
         echo "print('Hello World!')"

Upvote if you get the joke (the title)

I've observed a connection between lovers of computer languages, and lovers of human languages.

If you are interested in coding or linguistics, are you interested in both or just one of of the two? If only one interests you, which one and why? If both interest you, do they seem related to one another?
