Not a big enough upgrade. Considering the areas of the squad we need to strengthen, a goalkeeper will not be a priority, especially not one who’s barely better than Pope.

£40m?? I know the market is crazy but surely not that crazy for Arsenal’s second choice goalkeeper.

The story of insanely rich people spending lots of money very badly on football is a tale as old as time.

Zenga and Nuno, but neither great managers. Thinking about it, quite weird that Wolves have had 3 ex-GK managers in recent years.

Expectations are a lot higher at Man U than at Newcastle. Surely that’s obvious?

Unless Milan are really stupid it’s very unlikely there’s any evidence they knew. They might have heard rumours and though it was a good time to get rid. If there’s any paperwork that shows they knew then they would be really idiotic.

It is incredibly well paid though. Well less so now with Southgate maybe, although he’s paid more than he would get at a club job. But back in the days of Sven and Capello it was one of the highest paid roles around. The FA could still offer a huge salary to attract a big name to the job if they wanted to.

The rivalry is power politics, not particularly ideological. Saudi Arabian state has been opposed to MB for long before MBS and is mainly concerned about a rival political operator.
