I certainly don’t know much but my entry points were Journey to the West and Detective Di.

Cat 1 - “The Sheriff” is looking out the big window in the living room to see what’s going on in the ‘hood this morning.

Cat 2 - “The Lover” made biscuits on my arm because I’m still in bed. He is now sleeping on my feet.

Cat 3 - “The Antique Cat” - currently howling into the heater vent so the heat will turn back on.

I’m on the last few episodes of the Chinese fantasy series, Fangs of Fortune. I’m not ready for it to end. Edward Guo is such a wonderfully creative director, his projects always stand out in this genre. He also works with a lot of actors I really like. I’ve had the OST on repeat while working.

Chinese xianxia and wuxia shows. I’m a brown person from the American southwest who grew up with mostly European mythology and fantasy stories. Learning about a very different world of myth and lore has been endlessly fascinating and exciting for me. I even homebrewed a ttrpg around it so I can share some of the cool concepts and stories I have learned.

In my last game one of my players got a seemingly dubious treasure - an apron. He later found out it was The Apron of Deliciousness (based on Delicious in Dungeon). He could make monsters and other seemingly non-food items into delicious meals. At one point while trapped in a cave he kept everyone alive with spiderweb soup. queue the horn sound

Game day - this is the 6th session for my homebrewed game called Scroll of Hengdian set in ancient China and steeped in Chinese mythology. My players are investigating and are about to find clues that will cause them to go on the run and head to a new city. They will also level up and get new Qigong skills so most people are hyped for tonight.

Oof, I hope it’s still a fun weekend and your Sunday night is restful.

Writing new content for my TTRPG set in ancient China. The players are about to level up. I added a magic painting they can enter to visit a qi gathering realm and meet a crane immortal. They are investigating some mysterious gray men who are kidnapping students and are about to learn more about the larger issue going on.

SW: 209 lb - CW: 191 About five months ago my doctor put me on semgultide because I’ve spent years at pre-diabetes and was struggling to lose weight even with regular exercise. I have not found this drug to be a magic pill - I still need to track my CICO daily and exercise.

I pushed to stay on the lowest dose till I hit a two month plateau because I am leery of relying on just the medication to manage my diet. I am well aware of most people’s experiences with getting off the drug and gaining weight again, so I am trying to treat this like a push in the right direction but not a long term solution.

Anyhow I’m also just posting cause I forgot I subscribed to this group and I also want to see it active. If you’re in the US - happy Labor Day! I hope you’re off work today.

About six months ago I talked to @Ashyr@sh.itjust.works about home brewing games set in Ancient China. Last night I finally debuted my game - The Scroll of Hengdian. If you like CDramas the name may be familiar as Hengdian Studios is where many series are filmed. My game is based on the Castles and Crusades game system so I could leverage the Codex Sinarum. The codex goes deeper into the actual history of China than my game does, but it is still very useful for this setting.

My TTRPG is xianxia-based so I created a new 'cultivator' class for all of my players. The differentiation really comes with the clan and domain choices that give access to magic based on elemental aspects and creature choices.

I borrowed heavily from the Codex Sinarum to develop the Qi abilities for my characters since that was the heaviest lift for me in terms of developing a new class that is a blending of fighter + wizard/cleric/illusionist. My players chose a blend of human and spirit based cultivators which gives me plenty of nuggets to develop additional qigong abilities.

In terms of content, my players are starting as young cultivators who have met at a sect that has invited them to cultivate and achieve their first level. I also took a random suggestion I saw a while back about creating a Star Trek TNG "Q" type dragon character (Die Lan Zi - iykyk) that occasionally comes around to mess with the party.
