Alternative software to Lemmy. Compatible, but with other features such as multi communities and micro blogging

Nice community

Nice, looks cool!

I found my latest job there. Some companies tend to mostly post in LinkedIn rather than other job boards. I guess it's probably country dependent

3v3 used to be a nice thing, I liked it a lot as it required less friends to play, and the games were shorter

You deleted your post at 4:43

The comment we are talking about came in at 4:46

On top of that, when I saw your report, the post had already been deleted.

For the other comment, I already told you there that it's fine to express criticism against a movie, less against a person.

why are you letting people launch personal attacks on me here

Because what the other person expressed makes sense in this context. You complain about mods power tripping, but you are overtly agressive yourself, as I noticed myself in the other community. You could have let the post live, I would have moderated the "whole personality" comment, and we would have moved on. Instead you remove the post, all of your comments, so that people wanting to have a look at what happened cannot anymore. I encountered this behavior in the past, it's widely used by trolls to cover their tracks.

Why are you attacking me personally.

It's more of a deescalation technique rather than an attack. Also, you are not really engaging any conversation here, which is the theme of the community. I let it got since yesterday because I think it's good to allow people to express themselves, even if not completely on topic, but based on our conversation, you would probably be better off elsewhere.

I'm probably just going to see the Phantom Menace (that's the only one they have in my city).

Would be nice to watch Duel of the Fates again

How exactly do you want me to moderate a post that you deleted yourself?

[–] Blaze@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 6 months ago

The edit is better.

About the conflit of interest, feel free to ask input from another mod, but I noticed I'm usually quite lenient on this community (as you may have noticed, I usually ask people to edit their comments rather than remove / ban as you may experienced in other communities).

Also, it's Sunday, people have probably other stuff to do, so you probably won't get an answer until tomorrow.

I thought it was just a couple problematic mods, I didn’t realize yall were forming a mod clique in private dialogues baking this behavior into the community.

There are only a few people keeping the whole thing running. Be it mods, regular posters, admins. I literally just stumbled upon Admiral Patrick in another community talking about the last X-Men show. It's more of a small town environment where you stumble upon the same people everywhere rather than a cult with gurus.

Which comes back to your point about harassment. In my case, I didn't plan to encounter you on both of the communities I mod, but here we are. Would you have posted on !movies@lemmy.world or !moviesandtv@lemm.ee, it would have been a different story (and the mod team on !moviesandtv@lemm.ee isn't really lenient. Trust my, I'm permanently banned there after I suggested changes to the community).

So it's more of a coincidence than harassment (at least in my case).

!interestingasfuck@lemm.ee, because it's always nice to see something interesting while you browse Lemmy

tl;dr: !movies@lemm.ee is a complementary community mostly focused on discussions rather than news

Hello everyone,

As I did a few weeks ago to share the discussion thread about Dune: Part II, I just wanted to share again about !movies@lemm.ee.

Why another movie community?

There are a few movies communities on Lemmy, be it this one or !moviesandtv@lemm.ee. They are mostly focused on movies news, but don't have much discussion threads about current movies.

On top of that, as Lemmy doesn't have unique URLs for posts, there is no way to just have a megathread pinned with links to discussion threads, as those would only work for people on one instance.

Which is why !movies@lemm.ee was created. Our most successful thread so far was for Dune: Part II (direct link to the thread), and we hope to have other insightful discussions about movies in the future.

Some time ago someone expressed that one of the things they were missing from Reddit was being able to go to a discussion thread after having watch a movie to read other opinions on it, we are trying to fill that gap.

Have a good day.

I'm not gonna lie, sometimes it feels a bit lonely. I try to post on a few generic communities

Sometimes I can be the only poster for a few weeks. Makes me requestion the relevance of posting at all. I started posting to !pics@lemmy.world recently just because at least my posts are widely seen, and other people post there as well.

Small post to ping a few people who might have interesting insight on the questions discussed in this community.

Probably a very polarizing question.

On the one hand, having most of the users and communities on LW causes technical issues (see this post), and also gives the LW staff too much power over Lemmy as a whole.

On the other hand, with 18k MAU on LW out of 47k (https://fedidb.org/software/lemmy/), every community listed there has a much higher chance of visibility compared to an alternative hosted on another instance
