any place where 50% of the population is treated as meat is not a place any human should purposefully go.

This is cannibal erasure and you should feel bad

"Come to Afghanistan for the food! Stay because now you can't leave, you American infidel"

[–] idiomaddict@feddit.de 30 points 6 months ago (1 children)

The food is really good though

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 21 points 6 months ago

I’m lucky enough to live in a place with a solid number of Afghan expats. Can confirm they make some delicious food.

Hmm? What does evolutionary fitness have to do with the barbarians destroying art they had no hope of imitating that honors a philosophical achievement that no random pedophile warlord could even hardly grasp?

[–] Liz@midwest.social 4 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I mean, literally? Foolish choices of the past are limiting economic opportunities of the present, meaning they will have less success compared to their peers, other nations. The concept of natural selection doesn't have to be limited to literal generational gene transfer, but can be applied to other areas. I mean technically you might be better served thinking of it more in terms of game theory or some shit, but a hand-waving application of natural selection isn't terrible.

Gotcha. The Afghani of the future will be worse off because of the present. Now I understand what you were communicating.

[–] Liz@midwest.social 2 points 6 months ago

It wasn't actually my comment, just my interpretation of what they were trying to say. Still, I'm fairly confident that's what they were getting at.

Who DOESN'T want to visit a bloodthirsty theocratic warlord-state?

[–] Arbiter@lemmy.world 32 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Well, plenty of people vacation in America

[–] dogslayeggs@lemmy.world 12 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Hey! I don't think we have warlords here by the strict definition of the term.

[–] catloaf@lemm.ee 22 points 6 months ago

Our warlords go to work in business suits

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

Just give it another year or so.

[–] PugJesus@kbin.social 5 points 6 months ago

As bad as the US can be, it's not even close.

[–] cupcakezealot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 29 points 6 months ago (1 children)

i think just remembering not to throw acid at women would help.

[–] Kbobabob@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

I thought this was an India thing..

"Come to Afghanistan! Enjoy our wonderful mus- Shop for fashionable cl- Enjoy our historic sculpt- We play a game that's kind of like polo with a goat carcass, check it out!"

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 19 points 6 months ago

Yeah, see this is why it's important to have a project plan beforehand. If we'd known "tourism" was on the roadmap we'd have done a few things differently.

[–] TransplantedSconie@lemm.ee 17 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Honey! We can go to Afghanistan where we can live out my dream of you being human cattle!?

Borat Trilogy confirmed. How amazing if Sacha went over in disguise.

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 14 points 6 months ago

Maybe they can let tourists throw the first stone. I’m sure that would appeal to a niche demographic underserved by the tourism market.

[–] kromem@lemmy.world 14 points 6 months ago

Looking for something to do?

You can throw the first stone for only $9.99.

If you ever feel like your job is difficult keep in mind there is someone with this job.

[–] dutchkimble@lemy.lol 3 points 6 months ago (1 children)

This is the making of a funny TV show shot like flight of the conchords

[–] afraid_of_zombies@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Think we can sell an animated series version to Netflix that they cancel after a boycott and no one binging it in one day after only 8 episodes?

[–] dutchkimble@lemy.lol 2 points 6 months ago

Wouldn't have it any other way!

[–] athos77@kbin.social 13 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Wasn't there some influencer who went there last year to prove he was safer there than in the West and they murdered him?

[–] massive_bereavement@kbin.social 4 points 6 months ago (1 children)
[–] athos77@kbin.social 13 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Found it - Miles Routledge, and he wasn't murdered, "just" captured and held prisoner by the Taliban for eight months.

[–] Deceptichum@sh.itjust.works 5 points 6 months ago

Miles described his time of imprisonment as a "holiday" and "living the lap of luxury", saying he was kept in a luxurious guest house, with several Taliban servants, and that he has been treated well during his time there, even being able to buy an Xbox, and being well fed with foods like pizza and kebabs. He recently went back to Afghanistan to visit his friends in the GDI and plans to open businesses such a gold mine there

I heard they don't even chop off your head anymore! I was floored! They only scratch it a little now. It's like that Catholic thing where they mark the doors red and they mark their forehead with ashes. But they do run you over and stone you. It's an improvement.

[–] Audacious@sh.itjust.works 4 points 6 months ago

Guessing men only?

[–] nutsack@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago (1 children)

the word woo makes me think Muhammad is going to suck my dick

[–] WhatAmLemmy@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

Who needs Muhammed when the Taliban are lining up to suck capitalisms dick?

[–] PugJesus@kbin.social 1 points 6 months ago

No, no, don't worry, they're attracting Chinese tourists and selling the nation's mineral rights to Chinese corporations, so it's actually Socialism With Chinese Characteristics.
