You can tell the writers are running out of ideas this season

Pleas don't give Hollywood any ideas...

I don't understand. Did I lobby any insults at you at any point?

I just asked how could any meaningful legislation pass without a super majority and you accuse me of lying. My thesis hasn't changed since post #1. Do you have any suggestions for how the democratic party could have effected change without a super majority? I'm really curious. We'd all like to know.

I don't know what your argument is any more. Sinema and Manchin were always moderates. Democrats can't perform miracles if they don't have enough votes. Do you have any suggestions how they could have done it with just a slim majority held back by two moderates? What's your plan? I'm listening.

Yes, but Italians are incompetent (at least their government). That's the one relief

I'm not sure where the confusion is. My whole point in that those two shits (Manchin and Sinema) did not vote with the party and blocked legislation. They worked against progressive legislation. Many of the bills had progressive policies that were taken out because of those two idiots. I'm for progressive policies but even I recognize the Democratic party was held hostage by these two shits. I thought I was clear???

These monkeys went bananas: 40 monkeys escaped from a research facility in South Carolina, and local authorities on Wednesday warned residents to stay away.

“Residents are strongly advised to keep doors and windows secured to prevent these animals from entering homes,” the Yemassee police department said on Facebook this week. “If you spot any of the escaped animals, please contact 911 immediately and refrain from approaching them.”

The monkeys that absconded were from the Alpha Genesis research center, which bills itself as “primate research specialists”. Police said that they have set up traps around the area and are “utilizing thermal imaging cameras in an attempt to locate the animals”.

You're just restating your original claim without addressing what I wrote. You're stuck on your point for some reason. I'm telling you, the American Overton window - - as much as we online people want it to be-- is not aligned with what we see in Europe. Step outside social media and talk to real Americans or look at polls. Yes, some things poll really well like Universal health care. But when the same poll ran with a different question "would you be in favor of abolishing private insurance" only fraction rated it favorably. The reality is the US is not yet where we as lefties would like to see it.

They did NOT do everything. It fact we barely got them to do much. All this information is publicly available. Their voting records are available to see. None of this is hidden. They are the primary reason most of the bills that DID pass were almost completely neutered because they were negotiated down or stalled. This also happened only a few years ago. We are not talking about last decade.

Two independents from conservative states that barely align with democrats. Why do you handwave this away so easily???

Just read an article in the guardian by a climate scientist lamenting how many times he and his colleagues presented flood risk data to city officials in Valencia but time and time again they ignored them. Very sad.

My experience on this platform has been mixed so far but one thing I've noticed the most is a significant contingent of the user base is really reactionary in their discourse.

This is a very typical exchange I have here :

User: I don't like this color because it's red.

Me: I don't know, looks more like purple to me. What about red is bad?

User: Why don't you fuck yourself in the face you fucking cuntfuck!

Me: OK...

Like, what gives? I don't have this experience on other platforms. I have arguments but never this shutdown meccanism.

I don't know if others are experiencing a similar situation. My all feed is very sparse with engagement. If I sort top six hours or by top 12 most posts have between 5-10 comments. I feel like there was more in the past? Is engagement dropping off? I'm on lemmy.world as my instance.

I use blender + some addons for work (I work as a landscape architect).

At least on Reddit there was some leveling of downvotes built into the algorithm. This site is making it seem like any slight disagreement leads to downvotes thus encouraging more echo chambers. Maybe it's the communities I'm commenting on?
