Creek doggo is now a slightly less hot doggo

It was calm so took the dslr into the water for a risky click:

My cat reckons 40 degree days are perfect for extra snuggles and naps on my lap. I'm not sure I agree.

Had a lovely time last night because my bestie came back to Melbourne for a week and we actually caught up this time! She came over for dinner with another old friend of mine and it's been sooo long since we spoke, when we used to catch up every week. I miss my old crew 😒

After carefully mapping out plans and goals for my future and working out finances and lots of other things with those plans in mind Life has now interceded and turned everything upside down 🀣

It looks like instead of staying where I am living now and moving in probably 10-12 years I will be moving very soon - probably within the year! Which is a positive thing, but it means there are a whole lot of things I though I had a decade to think about and organise that I need to work out now, and all my plans for the garden etc. need to be completely changed. My head is spinning thinking about all of the changes and things that need to be done. I think the next year is going to be very stressful, but once it is all sorted a lot of the long term stressors will be gone - Including the neighbour with the blackberry thicket and overgrowing trees!

Woke up to the sound of some nutter with his hand on the horn speeding down my 40km/h residential street. Somebody obviously got up on the wrong side of the bed and is dragging the rest of us down with them! 😀

Just waiting at the local barbers and saw one dude sit down and show the hairdresser a photo of what he wants, but the photo was of a model with way more hair than he has lol

He was genuine too. This please. Thank you.

PSA: do not go near Preston market. I have just returned and this had to be one of the most unpleasant experiences I have ever had there. Tomorrow will be just as bad I reckon. All the fruit & veg are looking wilted and distinctly sub-par, but the prices are still up there with colesworth. And I would not touch the chocolate with a barge pole - would probably collapse into a puddle. Avoid avoid avoid. All stocked up now for the weekend fortunately.

I've got a migraine so I've had some icy poles and fruit delivered. I feel so ridiculous lol. Grateful that the service exists though.

The corellas are back. How do they know it’s Saturday?

I've done nothing "productive" today and I look forward to the same tomorrow.

There's an aircon in the lounge room but she'd rather be a puddle on the bed.

[–] Dalek_Thal@aussie.zone 7 points 1 year ago

29 degrees inside, and that's with six fans all blasting and blocked out windows. Goddamnit, why the hell aren't aircons a legal requirement in all properties?

[–] useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 7 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Currently holding at 26Β° inside without turning a/c on. I really should whack it on to get ahead of it.

I love that I have to trick my cat with treats so I can have space on my own bed to lie down. Lucky she's adorable.

Welp. I spent money and bought things I'm going to have to keep organised. But they're useful (outside of the art stuff which was self indulgent) and I'm hoping to tidy up a bit and declutter before they arrive.

Edit: Feeling a bit guilty because the girl might have to go to the specialist but everything was under $100. Hopefully at least one of those things means I stop tripping over shit in the bathroom or protect bedding/clothing, and I bought a cheap bowl and platter so the wildlife water stays put

Definitely heating up. I've just switched the aircon from eco mode to "I don't care how much power you guzzle just keep me cool" mode.

Housework should be suspended when things are shitty. But I've washed a load of laundry, cleaned a litterbox, emptied the bins and recycling, cleared a bench and wiped it down. The dishes may need to be put in to soak.

There's an instant pot I want to lend to a friend and I've put it in its box but can't find the manual...

God, we've just locked down the flat to keep out the heat, only now a paper wasp has got in. No fucking clue how it got in, but it's there.

Suggestions for wasp murder? I do not trust them with being in a room with my senior cat.

[–] dumblederp@aussie.zone 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Kill it with nature. Put a glass over it and slide some card under, then put it outside.

[–] Dalek_Thal@aussie.zone 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I would, but bastard is sitting on a light bulb atm, which makes trapping them a bitch.

Quick shoutout to all the parents and kids at the beach who brought boogie boards but there were no waves.

It's devastating. I've been there and it hurts bobbing around on some polypropylene for no reason, It may seem like your darkest hour but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

which brings us to the rave.

edit: and look out.. on the BoM...

Oppressive night.

I've vacuumed half the house, and that might be enough manual labour for today. I just won't look at the other half.

Anybody have or used a steam mop before? Just for general purpose floor cleaning ? I use an old school mop and commercial grade bucket on wheels which works fantastic but can be unwieldy for some.

I’d quite like a nap, but I cannot. Dad’s due here to power wash the bird cage

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 5 points 1 year ago

Can’t wait for my coffee to be ready. So relaxing to sip it slowly, especially while I’m hiding inside.

Definitely gotten hot outside.

Treated myself to some bottles of half price coke and some chippies.

Trying to stay as cool as I can, plenty of cold water in the fridge and ice cubes and ice packs if I need today.

Hope everyone else is managing to stay cool or enjoying the warmth.

Finally got the motivation to tackle That Cupboard in the kitchen (you all know the one). Better half of two bin bags and a good half of the yellow bin later, plus a few things for the op shop pile and a few things I need to sort/see if they can be repaired etc.

Now time for a well earned drinkie and later, watch more of Mary and George.

Commencing nap #1 of the day 😴

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 5 points 1 year ago

Building swamp cooler and putting all the pillows etc outside to cook dust mites. Life is thrilling. Argument about how much ice is necessary for two days. I’m gonna be right about that 😝
