Aww they tried to hide this under the "read more" section on the listing...

$500 a week for a leaky garage and some cooling you absolutely know is not getting fixed anytime soon.

My god that’s so disgusting. These people are scum.

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 6 points 8 months ago (3 children)

Yeah I had one with a non functional gas heater. They wouldn’t even remove it. Thankfully now not legal, but desperate people will accept shit sandwiches

It's T minus 2 days until my landlord can (and almost certainly will) issue a rent increase notice, and shit like this makes me feel I'm better off putting up with whatever they charge here...

I'd be informing vcat and the police.

That is not in any way legal.

I'm SO sick of this Taylor Swift talk. Nothing against her, I like some of her stuff. But this "will she become president" and "OMG she's landed in Melbourne" is just so tedious. You know who else is here? The Blink 182 boys! But there's no need to bang on about it. Do people really not have anything else to talk about?

I'm more interested in hearing peoples thoughts on a their last coffee than I am their thoughts on a celebrity.

What's the difference between the hype of U2 OR Madonna touring back in the day, or even the Beatles or the Stones. Just a modern take.

I hear you dude. She's some weird bastion of white feminism, so I have to hear about her all over the place.

Billionaires aren't your friends people.

Careful now the swifties keep lists of the people who make these sorts of comments.

Staff meeting the other day got derailed by her. I’ve heard of the woman but honestly couldn’t name a single song. Am old?

So I've joined the club

A family friend brought over a coffee machine yesterday. He wasn't using it and thought we'd like it. LIKE itβ€½ Was so excited for it when the kids sent me a pic of it on the bench.. grabbed some Grinders on the way home and OMG it's like drinking a coffee flavoured cloud!

This place is like an oasis from the utter shittiness of other social media

Others may disagree

Looky what I found. I thought I'd try it tonight when my standards are pretty low.

Oh man! I remember my mum giving my sibling and I the cheeseburger version when we were in a tight spot, and the single biggest thing I remember is the texture being both rock hard and soggy.

Old neighbour spent all his day in the garden and now there's an ambulance at his place.

His existence irritates the hell out of me, but deep down I hope he's okay.

Not sure about tin fish but here’s a couple of Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches I just made.

Went to a gig last night and it seems that young pomms are back in droves (you can tell by the accents and number of fades). Was packed. Normally the place is empty on a thurs.

Extremely popular music in the UK (drum and bass) but the scene here has sort of been struggling after the rona (for the smaller gigs). Hopefully it gives promoters a bit more confidence throwing smaller cheaper gigs and difference is made up with drink sales.

Also $15 a pint is ouch.

As I watch these lion dancers doing their thing, I can't help but wonder: What's the connection with China and Lions in the first place? Were Chinese importing lions from Africa thousands of years ago? Any why are Lions the symbol of England for that matter?

I'd have thought Tigers would have been a lot closer to China, at the very least.

After midnight, the air is silent,
The crickets chirp, the birds are quiet.
Hear the low hum of passing cars,
The beat and thrum of guitars in bars.
Occasionally a cry will break the night,
Or giggles will follow the sound of a light.
The sound of bottles being thrown away,
The bar downstairs is done for the day.
Come three in the morning, or even one,
The club's will close, they're all done;
The patrons will flood the street to phone,
A rideshare to drive them all the way home.

The kids have messaged me, "Mum there's a cockroach in Nan's!" What are your tried and true cockroach problem solvers?

Chemical Warfare

[–] bacon@aussie.zone 5 points 8 months ago

cats are pretty good cockroach catchers but they will kiss you with that mouth an hour later

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 5 points 8 months ago

Smeg once posted about baits of mixed Borax and icing sugar. I put it in small tinfoil bowls where the cat can't get to them and it seems to be working quite well
