If there were no other options between those two apps for lemmy, which one would be your go to?

Since no one mentioned this: Jerboa simply because it's FOSS.

Seriously. Open source OS and server, but hey, let me just connect the two with a proprietary app.

Let me add to this by saying if there's something in Jerboa you don't like, you have the opportunity to change it by contributing. Jerboa didn't have Mark As Read On Scroll so I added it.

That's why Jerboa is the best. Also, Boost has ads ๐Ÿคฎ

Boost. It was my go to on reddit for 6+ years. The developer is solo and has a fantastic user interface. Jerboa is clunky and slow. Wasn't a fan.

Jerboa. I tried Boost but don't remember it, Jerboa I still have installed and use occasionally.

Is there a reason you're limited to one or the other? There's a bunch of different Lemmy apps out there that are great besides just those two.

[โ€“] DelilahBlack@lemm.ee 1 points 9 months ago

I guess the only reason is because there are so many. Let's say we lost most of those options, and those were the only two contenders line which would you choose. That's all

I would stop using lemmy.

I use Jerboa regularly, it's my jam. But I don't know why we'd need to limit ourselves to two anyway, even hypothetically. The myriad of apps with various features is Lemmy's and the Fediverse's strength.

The only right answer

Eternity is also my client of choice but come on, OP specifically asked for only Jerboa or Boost.

[โ€“] blackstrat@lemmy.fwgx.uk 1 points 7 months ago

It's a nonsense question though as there are more options

[โ€“] Veritrax@lemmy.world 8 points 9 months ago

I started with Jerboa for a few months but I think I've settled in Connect now. If I had to pick between Jerboa and Boost though I'd pick Jerboa.

Jerboa.

I already use it and have never heard of Boost.

[โ€“] swab148@startrek.website 1 points 9 months ago

It's pretty good, not open source but there's just one dev, so he probably just doesn't want people to see his code for whatever reason.

[โ€“] MxRemy@lemmy.one 6 points 9 months ago

Jerboa is awesome, I use every day!

[โ€“] Daeraxa@lemmy.ml 5 points 9 months ago

Jerboa, I've looked at a few but Jerboa was the first one and I've got used to it.

[โ€“] survivalmachine@beehaw.org 2 points 9 months ago

Jerboa. It does the job, and does it well. Boost is slightly better for my needs, but not enough to overcome the non-free aspect.

[โ€“] Resol@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

The one with the Jerboa

[โ€“] darkstar@sh.itjust.works 1 points 9 months ago

Out of those 2 options, I'd choose Voyager
