Oh my God, the fucking car's been fucking stolen.

[โ€“] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Oh no! Hope you had insurance! Time to look at some security systems or something, clearly some bad stuff going on in your neighbourhood.

[โ€“] oztrin@aussie.zone 8 points 10 months ago

Yes, thankfully. And since I'm moving in a few months, not worth the security unfortunately.

[โ€“] wscholermann@aussie.zone 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

How did it get stolen? Did they smash a window or was it towed? (Yup I've heard of this happening).

[โ€“] oztrin@aussie.zone 7 points 10 months ago

No sign of glass or anything, so buggered if I know.

[โ€“] Taleya@aussie.zone 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)
[โ€“] oztrin@aussie.zone 4 points 10 months ago

Somewhere between shocked and frigging annoyed.

[โ€“] Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Oh no! That is awful!

Was there anything important in it? What sort of car was it?

[โ€“] oztrin@aussie.zone 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

No, and an old Volvo 7. But since this is the third time the place has been hit in a fortnight I'm wishing it was May.

[โ€“] Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

๐Ÿ˜” So frustrating. I hope your day get better.

[โ€“] oztrin@aussie.zone 7 points 10 months ago

Well no sign of the cops, and just got the word the other party intereted in the unit's raised the bid by $10k, so yeah.

[โ€“] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 5 points 10 months ago

Holy crap! OMG that's Terrible

[โ€“] Eagle@aussie.zone 5 points 10 months ago

Oh no! You've had a run of bad luck lately ๐Ÿ˜•

[โ€“] just_kitten@aussie.zone 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Fucking hell, you need to win lotto one of these days to balance out your bad run. I really hope that other bidder backs off and the house comes through for you... Will you have another car available soon?

[โ€“] oztrin@aussie.zone 4 points 10 months ago

Other bidder is being aggressive so I'm sitting on things for the rest of the weekend.
My insurance includes a hire car and I'll see if my mechanic has a loaner or something for sale.

Oh that sucks! I hope youโ€™re doing ok

Iโ€™m excited to announce that my wifeโ€™s cat and I have reached a tentative mateship after 4 years. Sheโ€™s never โ€œhatedโ€ me, but sheโ€™s always made it pretty clear where I stand with her and that Mrs B is her preferred human. But somethings started to soften, she likes my kid so I think sheโ€™s decided Iโ€™m alright based on that. Sheโ€™s even started coming to find me for pats.
The bitch of it all? Sheโ€™s not even my wifeโ€™s cat! Iโ€™m the one who said โ€œwe canโ€™t leave her here! No ones even looking at her! We have to bring her home.โ€ But nope, Mrs b got all the credit and love.

Cats: manโ€™s okayest friend.

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

aw, hugs

( also, be sneaky and get some of the paste cat treats, prawns are a good one, then you*ll be the preferred one forever ๐Ÿ˜บ )

[โ€“] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 7 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Oh she comes if you call her name and say treats, But you get no points for giving her treats because she just thinks sheโ€™s entitled to them.

[โ€“] Taleya@aussie.zone 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Do you have a beard? Rub your chin on the top of the cat's head. They live for that shit

Cops finally got in touch - investigating officer was unaware of the earlier break-ins and you could practically hear her jaw dropping over the phone.
Trainned it down and went to a couple of other OFIs on the same street as well as touching base with the agents who were holding another - places were nice enough but smaller.
Other party put in another bid at the top of the asking range while I was waiting. Agent advised me to wait over the weekend before I make any decisions about another bid. Will sleep on it before I decide whether to make one final bid or drop out of the bidding - even the estate agent who initially said "it'd be a shame to lose the property over $30k" said "it's getting a bit steep.".

No idea why I thought it'd be different, but I did my 7 day covid retest and it was instantly positive, like the minute the liquid hit the little thingy.

Really just want the contagious window to end so I can start taking care of myself and leave my bedroom, seven days is a long time to be stuck in a shoebox of a bedroom, even if I can't do much with myself.

[โ€“] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 10 months ago (5 children)

I think I've asked this before but anyway I know you like period dramas. Have you watched The Village? It's a true story set in ww1. It's on SBS on demand and it's very good.

Get well soon banana.

Lemmy is trying to help stop me procrastinating and refusing to let me log in to my Aussie.zone account on the computer. I'm going to show it that my procrastination cannot be stopped so easily and clean out the cat litter tray. The things we do when we should be studying. ๐Ÿคฃ

[โ€“] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 4 points 10 months ago

Procrastination achieved, so I'm taking a break from all that tiring procrastination. Cat's litter box has been cleaned out, I did a bit more zucchini wrangling and the cucumber has been introduced to its new climbing frame (a clothes airer I picked up from hard rubbish this morning). My brain really really does not want to focus on this assignment. I was hoping to have a rough draft done by now, but I've barely touched it.

Is it bourbon, is it whiskey,
Is it rum, hold the cola?
Orange juice with vodka,
(I think it's called "mimosa.")
Sniff and sip an Irish islay,
Hold the ice, I like it straight.
Taste the peat, feel the burn,
Only for whiskey do I yearn.

Ooops. Put my head down 'just for a moment' last night and woke up fourish with the lights still on, the front door and various windows open and the tv on.

Does anyone know of an accurate way to measure actual data usage? The amount Telstra is telling me I'm using is way higher than I think it should be, and is much higher than the total amount my devices are measuring.

At the moment I've disconnected everything from the Telstra modem and am going through the phone as a mobile hotspot. I've recorded the data totals both services are showing me so I can compare the amounts over a few days, then will swap back and do the same. If anyone has a better approach please let me know.

Why is the old kitten fussy?

She didnโ€™t seem to like the flavour of wet food I opened and despite adding yummy toppings doesnโ€™t want to eat it (so is skimping on taking her medicine). I syringed the pain meds into her mouth last night but gave her anti nausea meds today and keep trying to get her to eat the breakfast.

She keeps jumping up on the wardrobe door to demand attention but wonโ€™t lead me to anything to show whatโ€™s wrong. Sheโ€™s already done a poo which got scooped away fast, has clean litterboxes, fresh water, the biscuits got shaken to fix the bowl hole she ate into them, wet food right thereโ€ฆ

Maybe sheโ€™s just bored of the food and feels bad after not having enough of her meds that were mixed in.

She has now patted at me until I let her lie on me ยฏ\_(ใƒ„)_/ยฏ

Ugh... Humidity of 71% makes 21 degrees feel a fair bit hotter. BOM reckons Monday will be a max of 29 and Tuesday will be a max of 30.

I'm so happy that heaps of money was kept from building Australian houses so cheaply so that we may in turn be price gouged for the heating or cooling to make them livable. They really get you coming and going.

I've been listening to the 'just ace' podcast. It's a look back at 90s Aus alternative music scene. It's really good - lots of nostalgia but also interesting stuff.

Rain starting in 7 minutes.

These new forecasts are like something out of Back to the Future.

Forecasts used to be for 3 days and were very general.

And yet we survived, we just let weather happen.

Really was not expecting precipitation today, glad that I left my clothes out overnight and remembered to take them in this morning. Rental inspection just finished, quick and easy, thank goodness, and no questions about the additional blind I installed in the bedroom (which is totally legal).

I did not unfortunately work up the courage to raise the question of how much they're raising the rent by next month, because the whole thought of it was just a bit too much. I did flag that I might be looking to move at the end of the year though, which might not have been smart... anyway... it's over, back to chillaxing.
