David Tennant is good in many many things, not just Dr. Who.

He's also good in:

Ahsoka, Good Omens, Final Space, DuckTales, Jessica Jones, Just Cause 3 (Propaganda Minister), Broadchurch, The Pirates! (Band of Misfits/In Adventure with Scientists), How to Train Your Dragon, Extras, and many many more. Those are just the ones where my memory goes to when I think of his voice.

Also voiced Scrooge McDuck in the Ducktales reboot.

I did have DuckTales in my list! It was quite good for a reboot, but it also had Ben Schwartz so I kind of had to watch it out of respect for the Solo Bolo Buddy.

hes good in fright night too but hes also fucking hot in it.

also he's scarily good in the tv series des, about scottish serial killer, dennis nilsen.

[–] jherazob@beehaw.org 1 points 10 months ago

I keep feeling that I'm betraying my generation a bit when i mention that i liked the Fright Night remake A WHOLE FREAKING LOT more than the original, but dammit that's how i feel! And yeah, he was excellent in it!

[–] runner_g@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 10 months ago

Ill add The Decoy Bride to your list. Its a bit campy but its such a fun movie, with a lot of quotable lines like, "im a lot hotter than I look", and "Griddle puffin? On a Tuesday?!"

[–] Nakedportafilter@beehaw.org 3 points 10 months ago

Also I would add “Staged” and “Inside Man”.

Is Dr. who (British one-piece) worth watching anymore? I fell off the watch wagon after Matt Smith departed

[–] Mr_Mofu@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Tbh the Capaldi Era is way underrated. Sure there are more episode that kinda miss in my book, but man Capaldi knocks it out of the park as the doctor!

[–] cupcakezealot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 10 months ago

capaldi is so great! matt and clara are my doctors and companions since i started watching in 7b and was a whouffle but i LOVED the way clara and twelve were each others emotional support :')

also thirteen deserved so much fucking better than the writers she got

[–] MadBigote@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

Capaldi COULD'VE been a great doctor, but he fell flat due to the showrunner's scripts and the BBC getting their hands too much into Dr Who.

The last i watched from DR Who what's Twice upon a time, and made up my mind Dr Who would never be as good again.

[–] Lairo@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Depends on what you enjoy from Dr Who. The specials with Tennant's Fourteenth were great for campy silly fun. Capaldi's last season was great for character drama. Ncuti Gatwa has just started as 15 and I haven't watched his opening special yet but I enjoyed him in Fourteen's last episode. Very similar to his character on Sex Education

I dropped out during the early run with Matt Smith, despite wanting to continue because I thought Karen Gillan was a fox.

However, the writing changed in a way I wasn't so excited about and I dropped out.

I always meant to go back for Capaldi's run, I heard his Doctor was a blast of anarchic fun.

[–] Addition@sh.itjust.works 20 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Definitely watch Capaldi. His Doctor is right up there with Tenant in my book.

Be advised though, if you continue watching, Jodie Whittaker's seasons are... different...

It's not Jodie. They changed writers and directors after Capaldi and I was not a fan.

[–] HerbalGamer@sh.itjust.works 4 points 10 months ago

I was absolutely put off by Capaldi and had high hopes for Jodie Whittaker but they did her so dirty I gave up quickly.

[–] mariah@feddit.rocks 1 points 10 months ago

I loved Jodie's doctor, maybe because she's hot af, but i loved her seasons. Although her companions were 2d. I would of loved to see her and missy

Newest Doctor is seeming promising. Davis is back at the helm of the whole show.

[–] cupcakezealot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

the new one just premiered on christmas day with ncuti gatwa and its so good ❤️

also watch the 60th anniversary specials with yasmin finney too :)

[–] kogasa@programming.dev 5 points 10 months ago

I just recently watched every episode of the reboot. Yes, it's worth watching. I don't think it quite recaptures the feeling of the earlier seasons but it's enjoyable in its own right with a gem every now and then. Every single doctor has some great performances. I think the 15th doctor is going to see some seriously improved writing and storytelling compared to (most of) 11-13 too.

If you take one away, is it still a pile?

[–] isVeryLoud@lemmy.ca 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I think a pile is composed of a minimum of two ants stacked atop each other, parallel with the direction of the gravitational pull.

Sorites just got shut down so hard, Zeno is backing away at a constant speed.
