Yet, a song that doesn’t know how to end properly is terrible. A book that doesn’t know how to end properly is terrible. You have to learn how to die properly, or your life will be terrible.

A book that doesn’t know how to end properly is terrible.

George R. R. Martin disliked that.

No, surrounded by love ones is fine, but it’s preferable if you have your dignity intact.

Naked, on fire, shooting two automatic rifles and skydiving while Fortunate Son plays.

They say the greater the snoot the greater the wisdom

I honestly don't understand how anyone can enjoy hollow platitude posting

[–] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Maybe this community isn't for you, bub.

[–] uawarebrah@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I dunno, I really enjoyed the post. Thanks OP!

[–] pixeltree@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Oh I know people do, I just don't know how

Not saying people shouldn't be posting stuff like this, I wish I could enjoy it too =/

many people are like tomato plants which need a stick to be bound to, otherwise they fall over

these platitudes are just a dead, inanimate stick. they don't inherently bring joy, but their application and distribution still helps.

The world is a nightmare. You can either give in to the bleakness and let it swallow your spirit, or you can appreciate and elevate the good in defiance to the bleakness, and let it fuel your resolve to multiply that good. Platitudes are useful baby steps for those half submerged in the nightmare already, and frankly it's presumptuous to assume they're hollow.

Seems the opposite of hollow to me. Hollow is: "kids raise money to pay for fellow classmate's cancer treatment".

Platitude, perhaps. I liked it.

The light sprinkle of jpeg over this really adds to the Forwards From Grandma feel.

[–] Cris_Color@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

Borzoi look so cute I love them so much 🥹

[–] UrPartnerInCrime@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I mean, I get what youre trying to say, but there are definitely stories, music, jokes, paintings, and many other things where everything is just for the finished state.

[–] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 2 points 2 days ago

Look the borzoi in the eyes and tell him that.

[–] bizarroland@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

This is your random reminder that the outcome of your story is not finished yet.

[–] underscores@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 days ago

When does the joy start ?

I always thought "born to die" was more a reference to how a lot of people view human lives as dispensable. I always thought it was a sarcastic self label, when you feel taken advantage of. I appreciate the sentiment, though. Maybe I'm wrong.
