I was thinking not pron style of game with difficult riddles, puzzles and lateral thinking solutions that I can play from my phone. I’m willing to pay (once) for a well developed game though.

You can't beat "Simon Tatham's Puzzles" for a FOSS puzzle game app. 40 logic and puzzle games. Super simple UI, many puzzles have parameters to customize the difficulty in various ways. All come with detailed explanations of the rules or mechanics.

Various ways to get it. But I think play store is preferred. The f droid repo gave me a compatibility warning when looking it up just now.

Hmm, I'm not getting a compatibility warning on F-Droid. I'm on Android 15, are you already on 16 maybe?

[–] MisterCurtis@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

You're right. I'm on 16 now. Game still works for me though

As much as I hate NYT for MANY reasons, I've yet to find a better crossword.

Someone else recommended Baba Is You. Highly recommend that too

Depends on what you consider "lateral thinking".

My first recommendation would be cardgame roguelites (Slay the Spire, Balatro).

F-droid has some good logic puzzles (Soko++, Sudoku)

Shattered Pixel Dungeon is a really good, well polished, roguelike. It may be on the fringes of your request, it's not really a "puzzle" game, but you do need to think a lot to weigh your options constantly.

It's been so long since I played a game on my phone but recently for nostalgic reasons I went looking for Myst. Not sure how well the puzzles hold up to adult me but i really enjoyed it when I was a kid.

There is also The Room which reminded me of Myst that I enjoyed.

I don't know what a "not_pron" style game is so I don't know if my suggestions are relevant though.

Both you suggested are great games though.

What the heck, I thought you were saying you don't want porn games. Flipping the letters like that is a common way of censoring. I was already somewhat confused, since I'm not sure, I've ever seen a porn puzzle game.

Let me modify my reply

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Cyan released a remake of Myst back in 2021, it works on iOS and still looks stunning.

They also released a remake of Riven last year, though not for mobile.

[–] Maiq@lemy.lol 2 points 2 days ago

That's awesome. Riven was a great sequel. I did notice that someone made a port of Myst and Riven for android. Looks like the Myst version requires google games to run and I dont let google on my phones anymore. I'll have to see if i can get them working for one of my devices. I bet if I searched hard enough i could find my original Myst, Riven and Shivers disks and run them in wine.

Thanks for the heads up though.

I like to play nonogram once in a while.

[–] THB@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

"Deer My Friend" is a great one I stumbled across, really beautifully made

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Thanks for the tip! 🙂

For "not pron" style: rusty lake series

Sokoban style: baba is you

[–] fading_person@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago

There's an interesting game I got from fdroid recently called everest

[–] solrize@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 days ago

See if you are smart enough to turn the thing off.

[–] riquisimo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 days ago

2048 will burn at least an hour. It's free, there are tons of clones.

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What do you mean by "not pron"?

[–] edupo@europe.pub 2 points 2 days ago

https://notpron.com/notpron/

A very difficult riddle game.

[–] riquisimo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago

Simple Solitaire Collection has lots of different solitaire variants. No riddles, but you do have to think a lot. "Napoleon's Tomb" and "Simple Simon" are two interesting variants I learned about from this game. (Simple Simon has simple rules but can be incredibly hard.)

You could play jackbox with twitch streamers.
