Yep, we just move on

Part of my 2025 mental and physical health plan has been building and landscaping my little slice of land to go from an unfenced hillside of lawn to a walled and terraced garden.

Removed the sod and got a dumptruck load of granite stones at the start of the year. I am building using a dry stone technique and moving it all by hand on purpose. Currently finishing the main terraces and wall base, beginning raised garden beds now. Every day I move a couple stones into place and it feels like an accomplishment that is quite literally building on itself.

I look forward to seeing how it (continues to) come together.

I did a similar project a few years ago with stones, old logs and repurposed rebar. It was sooo rewarding, especially after the plants matured.

Hopefully, i get my drivers license! Exam is on June 23th.

I'm 43, always been taking care of my parents. Getting my drivers license is the first thing i do "on my own" so im pretty excited! Then i'll spend the next 6 months enjoying not having to go through public transportation :)

Remember to check your blind spots and don't rush anything. Good luck!

After the summer holidays i have a second attempt, my instructor and i are sure this time i wont be so nervous, so i’ll pass :)

We can only hope

[–] lime@feddit.nu 9 points 2 weeks ago

i'll get a cash bonus once the probationary period is up at my new job, which i can use to knock like 10% off of the cost of my mortgage.

a friend of mine is getting bottom surgery and i'm looking forward to it for them, it's nice that people around me are happy.

also, dunno if it's something to look forward to exactly but if it turns out i do have hypertension and i can get on exforge i may not only be rid of my chronic headaches but also figure out if i actually have adhd, since amlodipine apparently lessens the symptoms. it would be nice to be able to do things.

Trump has a stroke and tells stories about his pp and republicans still pretend all is honky dory.

[–] DarkDarkHouse@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I hope Trump does a reverse Fetterman: has a stroke and becomes a kind person.

Can you imagine the absolute mind fuck that would be for MAGA people? LOL

I'm going to get my commercial drone license and start doing freelance work to supplement my main job that doesn't pay too well. Very excited.

CT scans every 4 months... probably gonna get another nodule in my left lung nuked at some point. Hoping maybe the distended aorta that showed in my last scan takes me out quick so I can bypass all the misery of my advancing emphysema or the lung cancer possibly spreading. Aside from that, I'm just going to enjoy my family. Got three grandkids that are a real hoot right now. Counting my blessings is pretty much the priority...

[–] johannes@lemmy.jhjacobs.nl 4 points 2 weeks ago

Thats so sad to read :(

I wish you all the best! Hopefully things get better!

I'm hoping to move back to the town where my friends and family live. I've been in my current place for a few years, and it's fine, but I feel like my life is on hold.

I'm kind of looking forward to my kids getting a little more mature. Parenting lil kids is not what I'm cut out for. But it's bittersweet - that gets them closer to moving out and starting their lives without me.

I'm just hoping to get through the next 6 months, and then the next 3 years, without the government harassing me or my family.

Does it count if it's a hope and not a fact? If so, then I'll be looking forward to changing jobs. If I'm changing to another customer service job then I want something less fast paced, hopefully selling something I actually care about. But, ideally I'd love to get a job in the vfx industry again. I've been looking for years.

If it's a fact only, well, my birthday I guess? Which I'm also simultaneously not looking forward to.

[–] sbv@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 weeks ago

Good luck on the job hunt. I hope you manage to find something in vfx.

[–] Skunk@jlai.lu 5 points 2 weeks ago

Quitting my job for the end the year, a job that is making depressed and tired.

Opening my own business with blackjack and hookers (for real tho, opening a shop in my city).

Finish paying childcare for my toddler. I'll be 700 quid a month better off. Yeeha.

FINALLY getting my ADHD assessment. It's long overdue, and it's pretty obvious I have it. Now I will get assessed and finally get some meds to help.

[–] Bombastion@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Here's hoping they help! I waited until just last year to get diagnosed at the ripe ol' age of 36. It took a whole to get the right meds figured out, but they're helping a ton. They also have the side effect of severely reducing some chronic pain I had.

I will say that I kinda had to convince my psych that I actually had ADHD despite it being super obvious to all my friends. I scored too "well" on a computer aided test (oops, all video games). The thing that convinced her was making a spreadsheet of all the symptoms if both types and making a tick for each day they adversely impacted my ability to get stuff done.

[–] aeternum@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

That’s a great idea with the spreadsheet. I might do that too. I wrote an essay detailing all my symptoms and how they affect me, but I do indeed like your method too. Thanks for the advice :)

[–] toynbee@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

My wife also made a spreadsheet detailing her symptoms before her assessment (which was with a GP, not a mental health professional). Apparently the mere existence of the document was sufficient to earn her a diagnosis.

[–] reagansrottencorpse@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 weeks ago

Maybe a new game or something to drown out all the alarm bells going off constantly in my brain.

In about 6 months the weather should be better. That'd be nice

[–] DNOS@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Well since I just discovered a close friend In a couple of weeks is already going out with the girl I liked for 2 years ...( Yes he knew) and since I have so much time to my disposal while watching an empty residential pool at the young age of 23, I'm planning to feel like shit for the next 6 months :)

[–] bran_buckler@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

That sucks about your friend. Did you ever ask that girl out on a date or anything? Two years is a long time, I hope you had made a move at some point.
