The weirdest music seems to be middle eastern and Indian/Pakistani videos of things as innocuous as machine shops and auto repair. They blast music over some guy fixing a broken wheel hub.

Christian apocalyptic belief has been poisoning right wing politics in the US for ages now. Things like relations with Israel have been heavily warped by it.

I grew up with all of these idiotic Nostradamus shows and books that claimed he was foretelling the end of the world in our times. Of course his predictions were so vaguely worded you could slap them anywhere in history.

The book of Revelations is a feast for people who love to interpret symbolism.

Even the ancient Greeks used to complain that society was devolving. They talked about earlier generations being gold and now they've devolved to iron.

It is bad enough having gamers online foaming at the mouth like you just stabbed their mom when you make a mistake in a group.

Just need to do a dnf update on them all...

I'm going to guess the real facilities are about 500 ft under solid rock.

We are afraid to use common greetings now? How about we all refer to each other as "carbon units"?

This is a misinterpretation of a study on peasant life. It called certain religious days "holidays". What it meant was those days were days they didn't have to work for their lord. Peasants were obligated to work a certain number of days per year on the lord's land. The other days they still had to work their own land. Agriculture was back breaking work and if you weren't working in the fields you were constantly working on things like making cloth, repairing things, preparing food, etc.

Lemmy is too quiet and has little local activity so I still glance at FB and Reddit

I lost my 10+ yr old account because I got auto banned from a mess of subs for leaving a comment on an anti vax sub CRITICAL of them. You have to love lazy mods who ban without any consideration of context. Now I just glance at the posts and comments and avoid the urge to participate.
