Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

If you think about it, your house is a big cup for your cups

[–] Brekky@lemmy.world 3 points 12 hours ago

But are there more bowls or handles in the world?

I drive back in my mobile cup and enter my roofed cup

I empty an enclosed tin cup of chili into a heatable metal cup

I pour the contents of the cup into my handleless cup then grab my mini cup with a long handle and proceed to cup this chili out of the handleless cup with my long handled mini cup into my biological cup

This whole thread is twisting my melon. Im gonna be wondering whether or not this object counts as a cup all day now.

I told my partner “I don’t like setting my water bottle down on the table with the top off. But then I thought… that’s just cups”

[–] Beacon@fedia.io 9 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Sorta but not really. Bottles are much taller than cups and thus are more likely to tip over

My water bottle is very wide and bottom-heavy. I just don’t like the look of it with the top off hahaha

My cups are more unstable than my water bottle for sure

Tables are really flat cups

[–] Blum0108@lemmy.world 3 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Like giant plates with legs

[–] ReanuKeeves@lemm.ee 4 points 17 hours ago

You've made me reconsider my thought. Tables are upside down cups that don't hold liquids very well.

I have a bowl that has two handles

[–] ReanuKeeves@lemm.ee 1 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

You're telling me there's a cupbowl handles?

How do you know that's a bowl not a cup?

[–] cloudless@piefed.social 4 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

A bra is just two soft cups strung together.

Your toilet is a cup for old food and drinks

[–] Blum0108@lemmy.world 6 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Does that make my ass a drink dispenser?

[–] ReanuKeeves@lemm.ee 2 points 17 hours ago

With the amount of alleged ass eating these days, 1000% yes
