I've really been enjoying Resident Alien. It kept being advertised to me and I finally caved. Alan Tudyk plays an alien trying to be human so well.

[–] LadyButterfly@lazysoci.al 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I've not heard of that what platform is it on?

[–] Schal330@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm in the UK and it is on Netflix. I believe it's a syfy show. I think there are 4 seasons now but only S1&2 are available on Netflix here.

[–] LadyButterfly@lazysoci.al 2 points 2 weeks ago

Ooooh good tip thanks 😊

I like that show but I skip all the parts where Alan Tudyk isn't in the scene, the story arcs without him are like a soap opera.

Recently decided to go back and watch Malcolm in the Middle. I watched it some when it first came out, and I kind of liked it. As a parent, it hits differently, and I like it a lot more.

ETA: as a new show, I really enjoy Hacks.

I'm really into Abbott Elementary atm

[–] Nasan@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

AP Bio is a good one that's also set mostly in a school. I tried a few episodes of Abbott Elementary and it didn't reel me in the same way, I need to go back and finish a season to give it a fair shake.

[–] LadyButterfly@lazysoci.al 2 points 2 weeks ago

Not heard of that thanks

Ghosts (US). The reason I'm watching the US version and not the original UK version is that I followed Rose McIver there from iZombie. I'd like to check out the UK version but I'm not sure how closely the US version follows it and I don't want spoilers.

Other than that, I think I get most of my comedy from cartoons these days. Like Harley Quinn or Hazbin Hotel or whatever.

The UK version won’t spoil the US version. The two storylines diverge pretty quickly. I saw the UK version first, and like it better.

[–] Zero22xx@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 weeks ago

Ah, thanks for the being the first person ever to let me know after mentioning that I'm unsure how similar the two are, on any platform. Glad to hear it, I'll definitely add the UK to my growing watch list then.

I actually watched the first episode of The Inbetweeners yesterday and I loved it. I saw my teenage self more times than I care to admit in that episode.

[–] slaneesh_is_right@lemmy.org 3 points 2 weeks ago

I rewatched it the other month, together with peep show. Suddenly i accidentally dowloaded the american version of Inbetweeners and ho-ly shit, that is baaaad

Is there a word for comedy that makes you cry not from laughing?

[–] hypnicjerk@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

remember when they tried an action movie block a few years ago?

[–] baggins@beehaw.org 3 points 2 weeks ago

Malcolm In The Middle - watching it (yet) again from episode 1.

[–] DampSquid@feddit.uk 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The Other Two is criminally unknown

[–] d00phy@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Even meaning to check that out.

[–] Shape4985@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago

I Think You Should Leave, followed by the forever classic Peep Show. Also Gary and his Demons for an animated show

I Think You Should Leave is the funniest shit I've seen in years and one of the few shows I've ever just put on again immediately after finishing.

The runner up would be Solar Opposites. Can't wait for more of The Wall saga.

[–] slaneesh_is_right@lemmy.org 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Solar opposites really surprised me. I watched it randomly and thought: oh it's just rick and morty. And then i was drawn into the side plot more than i could ever imagine.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 2 points 1 week ago

I think it got even better after Roiland was canned, as opposed to R&M. Especially since the choice to completely change Corvo's voice and the way they wrote it happening into the show was perfectly in-line with the show and funny as hell.

[–] shinigamiookamiryuu@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago

At this time, I've just been watching other peoples' videos for that.

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Rick and Morty, it's dark, it's obnoxious, it's VERY intelligent while VERY lowbrow. There's character arcs and growth. It's hands down the best comedy on TV right now.
