Out-crazying all the crazy passengers. This probably stops so many stupid rants and conversations dead in their tracks.

5/5 pro move.

- The moon landing was staged.

- Pfft, you believe in the moon?

[–] Wilco@lemm.ee 63 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The moon landing was actually staged. It has been proven that Kubrick filmed it ... but he is a perfectionist and demanded it be filmed on location. He made Armstrong do 48 takes.

[–] kamen@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

Yep, that one was next on my list.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 9 points 1 week ago

or this is the champion crazy passenger theory. it's the one to beat and he's excited to hear the next humdinger

A bartender a few months ago told me electric cars were way more dangerous than ice cars because the batteries emitted a gas that caused cancer. At first I thought he simply got confused and meant the opposite but no, he repeated it: the batteries in electric cars emit a gas that give you cancer.

I did not push the conversation any further.

[–] Wild_Mastic@lemmy.world 29 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

I mean, if you poke the battery, something hurtful comes out of it.

Please don't poke batteries.

[–] Zoomboingding@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Alternatively... If you operate an ICE vehicle as intended, it emits a gas that causes cancer

[–] Plebcouncilman@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Well yes, but he meant like while you drove the car and while it was sitting in your garage.

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

This is why I could never go electric. I love just sitting in the garage, listening to music for hours while the car runs. I refuse to give up my me time.

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Lead acid car batteries can emit a bit of gas, especially the old ones. That's why when jumping a car you're supposed to put the negative on the frame. Probably thinks it's all batteries.

[–] erev@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

yeah but that's hydrogen, and you place the terminal on the frame because if it sparks when you connect it the battery can blow up from the hydrogen it's offing.

A bartender told me that Titan got eaten by a megalodon.

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)
[–] SouthEndSunset@lemm.ee 2 points 1 week ago

If you mean did the landlord in my local tell me and another local that he was convinced that a Megalodon ate that Titan sub, yes he did. I think he believed it, but I also think part of being a barman is talking shit.

I've had air fryer before they became popular. It was called glass convection oven. I still use it because it's larger than any air frier you can buy.

[–] zod000@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The magic of "air fryers", other than a good marketing name, was that they were also much cheaper that those awesome glass convection ovens and were not targeting a higher class demographic.

[–] RejZoR@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Thing is, that's not even true. Glass convection oven is 60€. Air friers of somewhat similar size from brands like Philips or Tefal cost almost 400€. And are still actually smaller in usable space to make food. But thry look fancy and have a big color display and WiFi and whatnot. Convection oven just has temeprature and timer knobs and thats it.

[–] zod000@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

We're clearly thinking of or seeing different products. The older glass convection ovens I used to see were in the $300-$400 ballpark in the US back in the 90s and early 2000s, where as typical air fryers here are all sub $100 unless you are getting a "fancy" model that includes some sort of "grilling" or rotisserie functionality. As you are referring to prices in euros, I can only assume that we had very different marketed products.

[–] RejZoR@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Only air friers that cost under 100€ can fit 3 chicken nuggets and a sausage. And they are full.

[–] zod000@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 week ago

Must be a Europe thing, I see listings this very moment for some under $100 that can fit a whole chicken.

Waterboarded alien: Okay! In 2026, people will greet each other with wiggling arms and say “Rubber!!! Tiiiiiiime!”

[–] Reygle@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

You do Crossfit?

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 9 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Excuse me but us Asians have been using air fryers since the 90s.

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

OP meant to say waterboarding Asians until they pick a trend.

No one said the alien had to be extraterrestrial

"I berieve I can fry!"

I'll see myself out.

What else do you know?

Using the High Boi classification method, i give your Uber review 5 pie charts out of 7 bar graphs.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 4 points 1 week ago

[smack fist into palm] It's the only possible explanation!

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

I've had a air fryer for nearly 15 years. This one has lasted eight.

[–] loomy@lemy.lol 4 points 1 week ago

makes sense.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

If someone is so far out of the world, I wonder if he sees traffic signs and -lights just as funny flowers or something.
