Folks.

If you ever catch yourself describing how you want to torture someone to death, I want you to stop and take inventory of your priorities.

Look. I am not a pacifist. Some motherfuckers need to be removed from positions of power by any means necessary, up to and including violence.

That being said, should we not focus on restorative justice and rehabilitation? Why create unnecessary suffering in the process? The argument that things like the death penalty act as a deterrent doesn't seem to be borne out in the evidence. What good is served by torturing someone, even if they're the nastiest son of a bitch in existence?

It is important to make sure we don't let killing for sport seep into our ideology. Using violence against people is not something we should take pleasure in, let alone fantasize about. History has given us plenty of examples to draw from here; once you make a policy out of sadism, the group of people you use violence against only grows.

Also, porn is fine in moderation (like everything else) and can be made totally consensually, you terminally online freaks.

Something Vimes had learned as a young guard drifted up from memory. If you have to look along the shaft of an arrow from the wrong end, if a man has you entirely at his mercy, then hope like hell that man is an evil man. Because the evil like power, power over people, and they want to see you in fear. They want you to know you're going to die. So they'll talk. They'll gloat.

They'll watch you squirm. They'll put off the moment of murder like another man will put off a good cigar.

So hope like hell your captor is an evil man. A good man will kill you with hardly a word.

Putting aside the psychotic torture fantasies of these unhinged weirdos, could I please give perspective?

I'm anti-pornography. I'm also a former sex worker. I don't think that no one should consume porn, but you need to realize how horrific the porn industry truly is. It's why I think people should consume amateur stuff, OF, and independent makers. Big name companies are abusive, full-stop. There are, of course, exceptions with smaller stuff, too, but if you knew what these women and girls AND many boys and men go through for the sake of porn, I hope you would be horrified and disgusted.

This is not a moralistic, prude, "Christian-viewpoint"-thing. Far from it! All I'm saying is that if most of y'all can be furious & boycott N×stlé for their human rights abuse, y'all should also look into ethical porn consumption.

This is where I am at. Sex work was dehumanizing and traumatizing. I was recorded once during an assault. There’s a lot of problematic attitudes towards sex that make the industry damaging and dangerous.

It’s just obnoxious that loons like this are so common in anti-porn spaces.

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 11 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I don't have any real disagreement, but I think the problem is capitalism. The abuses in sex work are more visceral, but capitalism will create horrors for a few pennies.

[–] xor@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 6 days ago

capitalism guarantees it will always be more profitable to be immoral.
i keep repeating it but it’s so simple and not said enough.
if company A is concerned about morality and company B isn’t, and they’re both selling the same thing, company B will make more profit… they will eventually destroy company A.
even with companies that advertise being super conscientious and make it part of their brand, it’s going to be more profitable to pretend to be than to actually be.
so, buying from giant corporations will always be more evil than buying from small, good groups… and will always be cheaper.
and of course, this applies to porn.
from what i’ve read in AMA’s and such from ex-porn victims, the business model is basically trick them into signing disclaimers, drug and rape them, and then don’t pay them what they were told.
i can’t watch regular porn anymore… not that it’s super healthy anyways… but with the big companies, you’re basically watching videos of a crime.
even with sites like OF, people will pay a lot more for more fucked up stuff… stuff that damages your body… family and friends eventually find out and it fucks up lives in ways they didn’t expect….

there’s no disclaimer about “eventually when you have kids, they’ll be picked on because they’ll find out their mom did porn… everyone at the PTA will gossip and know, and you’ll be treated with disrespect forever”.

[–] boonhet@lemm.ee 7 points 6 days ago

Amateur porn tends to be way better anyway. The ladies look way less plastic and sad, the moans aren't usually horribly overdone, and it's just hotter in general.

[–] Tattorack@lemmy.world 7 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, I know. Drugs to keep the dick hard. Drugs to keep everything not sensitive enough. Drugs to keep going for hours on end. Badly ventilated rooms that begin to smell too much like bodily fluids. I've heard the stories of a few cameramen who started their career filming porn.

No wonder most "professionally" made porn always looks so fake to me.

Personally, when it comes to porn I like drawn or animated much better.

Well.. sure. That.

Tap for spoiler

And rape.

Horrific, merciless, torturous rape. And it can go on for days.

And they essentially own you. They often make sure you're in such dire straits that they can take advantage of that and force you to do things you never agreed to because they know you're desperate.

And they record it. And they'll sell it. And you get to live with knowing that potentially thousands of people get to see you being tortured and get off from seeing you absolutely suffer at your lowest of lows.

The drugs just sometimes help to dull the pain. And make you forget. Sometimes.

[–] Zenith@lemm.ee 7 points 6 days ago

Which is a completely valid perspective, it’s stuff like this that is being posted that actually makes your perspective both be not noticed, why would it be when there is salacious and audacious takes to post and discuss but also undermines you, now some rando is going to read this and put you in this camp and automatically write you off as crazy and your ideas as immediately dismissible. The problem is that even if this is “rage bait” its existence and proliferation will silence you as a side effect, that’s the actual purpose of “rage bait”

[–] Zacpod@lemmy.world 7 points 6 days ago (1 children)

100% OF, Chaturbate, or whatever. Only ethical way to go. The actors are fully in control of what they're willing to do, and for how much.

[–] Nasan@sopuli.xyz 8 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Mostly, there are cases (Colombia for sure to my knowledge) where girls work at call center-like facilities operating OF, Chaturbate, etc accounts and hand over a cut to the owners of the facility.

Best case, it's a contractor studio where girls with little to no money/access to the Internet and decent hardware can make a bit of money. I'm sure there are worse cases and would rather not think about how people twist that model into slavery.

So voluntary watching of porn bad, mandatory watching of torture videos good? Or is this satire?

[–] andros_rex@lemmy.world 13 points 5 days ago

This is not satire. Niiwa-Angel is a pretty active TERF, who also routinely posts about wanting to kill trans women.

[–] GeeDubHayduke@lemmy.dbzer0.com 59 points 6 days ago

This is written by people that want to stop you getting your jollies at watching people fucking, and get their jollies at watching people being dismembered.

One of these things is not like the other.

[–] Flocklesscrow@lemm.ee 43 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

Interesting that all the assumptions of torturing producers and consumers are geared toward men. As though women don't produce or consume porn.

[–] Ifera@lemmy.world 12 points 5 days ago (3 children)

Or as if gay porn wasn't a thing. It is funny when you realize how anti-men people do mental gymnastics for this kind of stuff, yet on the same breath state that sex work is real work, when pointed at OF "models", or anything that is lucrative for women.

These takes bother me a lot less when I remember that there is a very high chance that the person making them is literally 14.

[–] LavaPlanet@lemm.ee 46 points 6 days ago

This is just rage bait.

[–] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 42 points 6 days ago

One could argue that showing cock&ball torture on a livestream is also a form of porn.

[–] boonhet@lemm.ee 23 points 6 days ago

Most of the good porn is amateur couples anyway. Wonder what their take on that would be.

[–] absGeekNZ@lemmy.nz 9 points 5 days ago

One really weird thing that stands out to me is

hard labour.......picking litter, picking produce, clearing mine fields, cleaning up Chernobyl

Ok, so picking vegetables and cleaning up rubbish; is somehow equivalent to clearing explosives or cleaning up nuclear contamination.

So strange.

[–] Tattorack@lemmy.world 16 points 6 days ago

Oh no, not porn! How dare a bunch of people have sex on camera! Just how dare they!

[–] GregorGizeh@lemmy.zip 22 points 6 days ago

Tumbler people need to touch grass apparently. That's the most 4chan thing I ever read from there

[–] fluffykittycat@slrpnk.net 19 points 6 days ago

These people are evil

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 14 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

These are just the same type of extremists as the Christian fascists roaming free in the US right now. Gotta control people's naughty habits, we can't just leave people to have their fun, now can we?

It's the same type of people who claim that any penetration is automatically rape, doesn't matter if the girl likes it, wants it, it's rape, I tell you!

These people are insufferable

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 10 points 6 days ago (1 children)

This is where the Overton window has shifted to. We’re now debating whether modern capital punishment is too humane for porn producers.

[–] ChaoticNeutralCzech@feddit.org 15 points 6 days ago (1 children)

This is Tumblr. The overton window is about mainstream views.

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 7 points 6 days ago (2 children)

The Overton window on Tumblr, then. I recall it was very different before the owners banned sexual content.

[–] werewolfborg@ttrpg.network 6 points 6 days ago

Yeah, I remember when Tumblr was full of users who were really obsessed with porn and smut in general.

Hey can you put a CW on this please? Really didn't want to read that unprepared :/

[–] haui_lemmy@lemmy.giftedmc.com 6 points 6 days ago (3 children)

Watching porn is nearly as much fun as making porn. I have no fucking clue what these folks are ranting about.
