/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

My brutal but fair take:

I feel the bigwigs for Star Trek would sacrifice us all, in a heartbeat, for their own Grogu to get the kiddos buying merch.

[–] OhStopYellingAtMe@lemmy.world 33 points 2 days ago (3 children)

I dunno. They’ve been pretty hesitant to mass merchandise. It took Lego until this year to finally get them to license Star Trek for Lego builds. (And yes I will be buying a Lego original series enterprise bridge diorama, if the make one)

[–] cattywampas@lemm.ee 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If they release a massive $1000 Enterprise-D I am all over that shit.

[–] dontpanic@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Where will I put it? That’s a problem for future me, now shut up and take my money.

I say we spend $100,000,000 on lego and build a 1:1 scale enterprise D in the local, uh gravity is still real so ocean? Who's with me.

What? Blue Brixx has been making Star Trek models for years. Their delta flyer is amazing

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] MaggiWuerze@feddit.org 11 points 2 days ago

Yes? The point was that Star Trek was not merchandised and not that it wasn't merchandized by Lego. There have been plenty of Star Trek merch deals

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

They had an agreement with Mega Bloks back in the day

[–] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago

They missed the window. Tribbles could've been the first beanie babies.

[–] sxan@midwest.social 22 points 2 days ago

I would, if they sold an action figure.

I know, this is c/tenforward and the last two should be flipped for the community... but my heart can't lie.

[–] Pickle_Jr@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You say that but yet they refuse to make an official moopsy plush. I would go all in on moopsy but noooo

Yes but will it devour the pile of bones in definitely not my basement?

[–] jmcs@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 1 day ago

I've not seen any bones laying around since I got one.

[–] OpenStars@piefed.social 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

username checks out

Wow... it's been a minute since I said that!

it is important to note that none of the bones are sapient or screaming. this is not my fault.

one day i will complete the droning throne of bone. one day.

Now seems a good time to remind people to just let people enjoy things.

I’m perfectly calm, Dude.

Calmer than you are.

[–] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

[–] Grabthar@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago

That's a tough one. I'd have to say April 25 because it's not too hot, not too cold. All you need is a light jacket.

[–] AmazingAwesomator@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

are we not counting revenge of the 5th?

edit: well, it was so bad that it only deserves 1/4 of a day. nvm...

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Is that what happens when Star Wars fans find out about Cinco de Quatro invading their turf?

star wars and cinco de quatro are pretty compatible

[–] teft@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Oh great, does this mean we’re going to have to follow StarWar just like we followed Data on Data’s day?

I’m really not up for a wedding episode today, you lunkhead.

What would be a Star Trek day? Is there any date that comes to mind?

[–] klemptor@startrek.website 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

April 5th (First Contact day)

[–] ABetterTomorrow@lemm.ee 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Next year, we shall engage the internet on April 5th as Star Trek first contact day!

[–] klemptor@startrek.website 7 points 2 days ago

Make it so!

[–] OhStopYellingAtMe@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Here’s a few…

Zefram Cochrane Day, also known as First Contact Day, is celebrated on April 5th in the Star Trek universe. This day commemorates the event in 2063 when Dr. Zefram Cochrane successfully launched humanity's first warp-capable vessel, the Phoenix, and made first contact with the Vulcans, marking a pivotal moment in human history.

James Tiberius Kirk was born in Riverside, Iowa, on March 22, 2233, where he was raised by his parents, George and Winona Kirk.

In the Star Trek universe, the original USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) was launched on April 11, 2245. It was commissioned in 2245 and began its first five-year mission of exploration.

[–] ABetterTomorrow@lemm.ee 6 points 2 days ago

I’m feeling April 5th. That must been a power series of events that projected human kind.
