On behalf of my countrymen I can only apologise.

I honestly dislike him as much as you and it's worrying that we're increasingly turning into another US.

As others have mentioned though, the road tax rules (we pay very few tolls) have changed in the UK in April meaning it's now a lot more expensive to buy EVs than it has been in the past.

I expect that if you looked at other manufacturers in the same time frame their sales would have increased a lot more than Tesla's.

That's why they are not a part of the EU.

This country's full of basic pricks, and that graph proves it

[–] ratel@mander.xyz 15 points 3 days ago (5 children)

I saw on another thread from a month ago or so it's because you can finance one comparatively cheap, like 100 quid less per month, than other similar cars which means people are still buying them. Sorry I can't find the link but also yes I agree with your statement.

TERF Island in fascism shocker

[–] CheeseNoodle@lemmy.world 22 points 3 days ago

The UK is pretty much the 51st state at this point, our PM is bending backwards to give Trump everything he asks for nothing in return an we're re-writing our laws based on demands from american based lobbying groups.

[–] gmtom@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

If it makes you feel any better we're ruining a lot of other stuff too.

[–] then_three_more@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

Wait until the next quarter. A big tax break came to an end on EV's at the start of April.

Tesla's after April will be taxed at about £600 a year, instead of £0 a year.

In more ways than one...

Ahh, good old Blighty! There's a large part of our public who are always chomping at the bit to fucking disappoint the world. Twats.

[–] TedZanzibar@feddit.uk 2 points 2 days ago

Right? I swear I see more brand new Teslas driving around my mid-sized town every day. Boils my piss.

Some of the lads here have absolutely got to tug the forelock whenever possible.

I guess a lot of the nazis live in uk

[–] FarraigePlaisteach@lemmy.world 95 points 3 days ago (4 children)

Irish person here. The British were our Nazis for a very long time.

[–] shawn1122@lemm.ee 14 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Churchill was India's Hitler without a doubt.

Glad the resource leech era is over and now it's just tea, crumpets and an unfortunately crumbling economy post Brexit.

[–] davepleasebehave@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Sorry about that old chap. I'm happy that things are better between us for both our sakes.

Things are better. And when you hear Irish people criticise the British, we are mostly referring to the government. In fact, some British citizens abandoned relatively comfortable lives in the empire to fight for Irish independence. Eg, Countess Constance Marievicz. That said, there is still a way to go. All the best to you and yours.

Now now old chap, just because we invited the concentration camp and started the eugenics movement of the early 20th century doesn't make us Nazi's.

FFS! Why do we Brits (in the aggregate) lack brains and gumption? This same stupidity led to Brexit. I am personally mocking anyone I know with a SwastiCar, albeit friendly ridicule.

[–] D_C@lemm.ee 7 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

I'm British. And, I mean, yeah I agree with what you've said.

However, I've hardly heard anything on the news about TeSSla issues, or musk doing Nazi salutes etc. I'm not defending us, as we should not trust our main media at all due to it being "Murdoch'd" for decades now.
There's been some stuff about tRUMP and the tariffs etc, but nothing about Scummusk.

I've hardly heard anything on the news about TeSSla issues, or musk doing Nazi salutes etc.

Nothing on the BBC? Surely The Guardian covered it?

[–] ThePyroPython@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Honestly mate I've given up, I'm looking into going back to uni part time to upgrade my qualification and then start aggressively job searching for somewhere and anywhere but here.

I'm sick of this idiot island. I've got 5 years until Farage gets in and truly sends the country down the shitter.

[–] BlueFootedBooby@lemm.ee 14 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I'm kind of surprised it's not -100%. Who still buys these???

A lot of company cars.

[–] oyzmo@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

Buying a new Tesla in 2025 says something about you as a person, and it isn't something good...

[–] don@lemm.ee 34 points 3 days ago

Fuck’s sake, UK, care to get your shit together?

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago

I needed some good news

Everybody is talking about the UK. And I'm just thinking why is Norway so low?

[–] Opisek@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It would be great to see the absolute values, too.

I would guess, if sales were already very low, then it would be difficult to change the minds of the remaining few.

Can't say without the raw data, though.

[–] RunawayFixer@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

That reasoning could explain Italy and Spain, but Norway is an early adopter of EVs. The early adopter really, they have far more EVs per capita than any other country.

Edit: but I do agree that without absolute numbers or relative market share numbers, we only know half the story. All ev sales could be massively up compared to last year, while Tesla's only remained stable.

[–] UnculturedSwine@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Didn't realize the Tesla logo symbolized a down arrow.

[–] BreadAndThread@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

To me, it looks like an IUD or a uterus and fallopian tubes graphic.

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 21 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Germany got one whiff of the real musk and said no thank you

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

They know his type too well

[–] varyingExpertise@feddit.org 8 points 3 days ago

And the eastern half of the country loves it. However, they are not exactly prime candidates for buying electric cars or any new cars at all.

[–] GissaMittJobb@lemmy.ml 8 points 3 days ago

We could go even lower with some well-targeted tariffs.

[–] hellfire103@lemmy.ca 12 points 3 days ago

I knew I was seeing more of them than I used to.

(I'm sadly British)

Join global protests against Tesla in much of the US, various parts of Europe, part of Canada, etc.

(and there are multiple upcoming across the UK, if you are in the UK and disappointed at this graph)

https://www.teslatakedown.com/

[–] tomatolung@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

I love the tone and am happy teslas is feeling the wrath, but also dislike a percentage based chart which doesn't show Tesla's total sales in dollars or euros. The problem here is that while it's a huge impact to Tesla, it's not nearly as much of an impact as you might expect because they sell a huge majority in the US.
